Newest Version of WindowFX Bug

Startup/TrayIcon

In the newest version of WindowFX you can't check/uncheck anything in the System Settings tab.  This means that you can't keep it from loading on startup and you can't disable the tray icon.

Thats strange as I just changed those options here.

Do the checkboxes not update to ticked / unticked, or is it a case of they do not save the settings next time you open it?

I assumed that it was set that way because it was beta and Stardock was being brilliant:
Don't allow it to start on Windows start to make sure that at least Windows will always start.

Well it works on my computer. When I restarted my computer WindowFX loaded on start-up and with no system tray icon.

I've rebooted a number of times and I have the same problem with the system settings dialog here (WinXP Sp-2 latest updates and WB 5 enhanced latest beta running on a first generation Centrino notebook with 1 gig RAM) - specifically, there is no way to select the options in that window. The boxes simply remain blank. I am having other, related, problems though. First, running either the configuration utility OR the configuration wizard works fine until I hit "save and apply" at which point WindowsFX freezes. I AM able to close it via the "x" button in the menu bar. I usually do this after giving it a good 5 minutes (and as much as 45 minutes on once occasion) to "sort itself out". When I restart WindowsFX the settings that I modified in the previous session have been applied (of course, this simple act of checking the settings freezes WindowsFX - see above). Finally, WindowsFX INSISTS on placing all of my desktop icons in a vertical column on the left hand side of my monitor a la the Windows default. I group my icons together by application type on the lower right hand side of my monitor and must rearrange them whenever WindowsFX starts.

OK
I managed to get myself in the same boat!

When I wrote earlier, the only functionality I activated was to set the Maximum Window Size. I have an old system & didn't want to overload.

I though I might try one additional setting at a time & see how my system did with each. I set Window Animations on Very Short, then changed to Short. Things were OK, but I decided to exclude Outlook from the animations. Too Bad-- no longer an option. After using the animation settings, I couldn't change anything on the System Settings page.

Decided to uninstall/reinstall. Made sure WindowsFx folder was deleted & used ccCleaner on the Registry. However, my pre-uninstall settings had been retained somewhere & System Settings still do not respond to clicking.

Yea, I had to manually remove it from my startup registry and now I don't know how to put it back, lol.  As for the tray icon, I turned hide inactive tray icons on (usually I have it off) and just set it up so the only thing it hides is the WindowFX icon.
