This is put out to anyone that knows VB Script. I started creating an address book in VB Script and have gotten good results but the thing is hard coded meaning I have to enter each entry by editing the script manually. What I would like it to do is to have an option of letting the user add entries via an input box (i've figured this part out), it would then save the entry and the user would then be able to search through, find the entry and

To the developers over there at Stardock, Is there any possibly of DesktopX having built-in transitions one can use for hiding and showing of objects and widgets. Something similar to the way Apple handles it's Dashboard system, Link maybe by hooking into Windows FX ? It'd would ideally have several pre-made effects that could be added with a click in the obje
This can be solved very simply by following the steps below: 1. If you go to weather.com and do a search for your city you will notice in the page address a code for your city, if you take a look at the page address for Melbourne, Australia www.weather.com/outlook/travel/local/ASXX0075?from=search_city -- you can see the code at the end after local/. So the city code for Melbourne, Australia is ASXX0075. 2. Now try your
You know, until the last bit about striking you down i really intended on giving some useful criticm and help but... Check your email, there are some cursor that could be quite decent if only you spent just a little more time plishing things up. Especially your Blackened Glass set. It had potential but as other have said, the edges are not defined, the screen
I would think that the server would be able to count IP connections but... On your point about the site crashing, I have noticed quite a few bugs since the redesign. I haven't kept a record of all the things but some are time out requests after supposedly being fixed (last night to be exact), slow connect times when trying to access 'my skins' page or other pages where the browser just sits there loading, uploading errors still...this is just
Finally!! A sweet edition to DesktopX. I can see a lot of places that could come in handy... *trails off starting to plan a new theme*
After using the standard weather icons provided by Stardock for several of my themes, I got to the point where I decided to try my hand at designing my own (they also wouldn't match the new theme i'm currently working but more on that in the future). I soon learned that this would be quite an undertaking and realized a quick guide would help make things a lot easier. This brings us here so, on to the list: The following is a list of all 47 ima
first, download and install the newest version of the script engine. you'll be able to find it on microsoft's website. reboot and hopefully that should help. also, you didn't offer much information to the error you get but try loading a blank theme. if that works, try loading a theme with a script. if it fails, then there's your problem. the above solution will fix that. if after that it still doesn't work then,...i'd say a burial a
you're not doing anything wrong. the plugin was built that way just in case you share it with anyone it doesn't have your password included.

i second sleeping dragon's call for custom sounds! Stardock has programs to completely change the look of XP but nothing to change the way it sounds. It's kind of like throwing mod-kits onto a car and still have the factory lawnmower engine. ...or should that be muffler?
Huckleberry Hound...we said celebrities right?
you would have to turn off icons in desktopx. I've noticed this is the way it works for me. Go into Configure DesktopX and make sure 'Hide desktop icons' is ticked. Apply then OK and you should be up and running. hope this works.
oh man! looks like i have the low-end system beat. 350 MHz P2 CPU, 128 RAM and two hard drives, one at 10 Gigs for system/program files and a 60 Gig running at half-space due to lack of a decent (yeah,...i'd settle for a decent) cpu. anything pushing a 1 Ghz. all this running DesktopX and the rest. I can even run photoshop 7.0 but eh,...me thinks it's time to u
There are two ways of going about this, One (and the easiest in my opinion) is to set a message in the state property of the object where in the button on the player you'd add Show: Visualization Name and on the visualization window close button you'd ass Hide: Visualization Name. The second is to add a small script to the toggle buttons. Copy and Paste this script to add function: Sub Objec
I am currently looking for beta testers to give my newset theme in production, Sophisticated, a once through and look for bugs, improvements or modifications. Anyone that is interested please drop me a line at saranshaft@comcast.net Your help would be greatly appreciated. Resolutions required are: 1280 by 1024 and 1600 by 1200. Registered users of DesktopX are needed to test the splash screen of the theme. Thankyou in advance, <BR
thankyou Tiggz, that did the trick quite nicely. To see a preview of the new theme click here --> Link
I've created a new theme that includes different wallpapers with a nifty wallpaper changing screen i've created. I've copied the extra wallpapers it uses into the folder for the theme but when i save the theme it doesn't include the wallpapers. The same thing has happened when including other files for other themes (ie, font file for my RealDesktop theme). First, has anyone else had this problem and, second, anyone know why this is happening?
I'm glad to see anti-aliasing of text is finally incorporated into DXplayer. This was one of the major drawbracks (in my opinion) of previous versions which got me started using Tiggz's brilliant WMP script. Another reason was his implementing of the drag-and-drop of playlists. I'm with Tiggz in the need for this feature to be added to DXplayer. With that included I believe DXplayer will be a great little su
Let the nightmare be...eh, continue!
I must say, I have to agree with the post. I've put out a request on the usenet forums and several forums around the net for ideas for widgets and hadn't received a single idea. This is not to say there aren't many ideas that could be done, and done well (I have a few ideas, one being the currency converter which I have some scripting ideas for, and an address book/telephone number lookup) but like craeonics stated, there is some difficulty in using the striped down vbscripting language with my
If you're looking for a 30s/40s ish theme might I suggest my Minimalistic Avocado theme for DesktopX. It's highly functionable and allows for easy customization. Also it isn't quite as 'high tech' as most (ie. subtle effects). Available in both 1156 by 864 and 1280 by 1024. End shameless plug...now.
