FreeType is not used by Elemental and never has been. Elemental uses the ID3DXFont system provided by the DirectX9 SDK which has some limitations with regards to antialiasing. Many newer fonts require cleartype to look acceptable and this simply wasn't possible. The new rendering system uses DirectWrite which is a great deal more advanced.

It should not be using lots of cpu and in testing here it isn't. Are you sure you installed the update correctly?
Norton has this 'feature' where if it has not seen a file before it appears to decide it must be bad as if it were good other people would have used it. Unfortunately this seems to fall down badly with anything new or at least does pretty much every time we release a new patch or product. I believe you can retrieve it via the Norton UI and I am sure someone will be along to explain how, but I would like to suggest you consider changing AV packages next time you come
RedneckDude : The free beta lets you control a single secondary if you want to try it. No clipboard though.
Looking at this there doesn't seem to have been much movement really since June. The $ has become worth more over the year as a whole, but the rate should be pretty close to what it was when the thread was started. http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=EUR&to=USD&view=1Y At current rates it looks like it is breaking down as $69.99 for the box and $51 for
Quoting RedneckDude, reply 6Guess what? WinFX turned off, shadow goes bye bye. WinFX is quite the focker, eh? Have had my issues with it as well. Went away as soon as WinFX was banished.
What problems did you have?
Is this remoting into an existing session, or creating a new session with the login via RD?
Actually the VMWare issue is not addressd in the update as it is not a Multiplicity problem. The problem is VMWare does not update the host OS clipboard when you copy things into it inside the VM. The sync is performed only when you leave the virtual machine either by changing focus, or moving the mouse outside of the VM. Neither of these things happen when you switch machines using Multiplicity and so the Host OS clipboard remains as it was before. There is a simi
Win XP 64 bit should be avoided as you will find app support was poor even when it was current. Go with 64 bit Win 7 or 8.
If you are having problems contact support@stardock.com as suggested earlier in this thread.
We plan to offer the ability to pick the function the button performs in the same way you can in Windows 7. Regarding the text, thats something we will look into.
Other vote. Other thing, it should be possible to deactivate the start8 without unistalling. Please look to: http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/
It is. Run start8 UNLOAD to stop it.
This is due to a change in the OS. Unfortunately Microsoft chose to break backwards compability in one area and thats why Fences and Deskscapes both do not start until the desktop has been interacted with. My understanding is Fences 2 works around this but Fences 1 will remain as-is.
Is the start8.exe or start8_64.exe process running (depending on 32 or 64 bit OS)?
Could you be more specific about the issues with the all programs list please.
It may be an issue with the shortcuts used by Office. Did you pin a shortcut to the applications, or are they showing as recently used applications?
Yes, implement the default Windows Aero theme and icons before uninstalling. Then use CCleaner (free on the web) to uninstall and to clean up your registry as well. The renewal is not necessarily yearly. It generally comes if large changes are made to any one of the programs or graduation to say, Windowblinds 8 from Windowblinds 7.4 . You should download the installers as they come out and keep them on optical or other external
Could you provide some examples of the applications which are adding shortcuts that do not work. Also is that in the all programs view, or in the recently used apps view (the main page)?
Start8 is currently set to match the taskbar exactly which is why it has the transparency levels it has. Going forward there may be additional options.
We plan to allow more options in this area in future updates.
Those buttons appear in mdi apps like mIRC.
That sounds like a bug. Thanks for letting us know.
We plan to allow control over what the various ways to open a startmenu will do in future updates.
The current build of Start8 disables the bottom left corner hotspot for the metro startmenu as this tends to interfere with the use of the start button. Going forward we plan to offer the option to turn on or off each of the corner hotspots.
Yes the Windows 7 one was translucent too and so was the Windows Vista one. It did have blur on the glass area, but Windows 8 removes this OS ability. Start8 matches the taskbar in Win8 which is glass but without blur coloured to match the users OS colour setting.
