I'm been using 'Normal' CPU time ever since my first game of DA. I tried once at 'Advance' CPU and the game slowed down tremendously even when I'm only at my tenth turn. I'm wondering, does the enhanced ships rendering slow the processing down?

I'm running on Centrino, 1.6GHz, 1.25MB RAM with ATI x300 graphics card. Yup, I have no problems when running on medium maps or smaller. It only starts to get slower on large maps during the mid and late game.

I played DA on medium map and the speed of the game was good. From the very first turn to 100 turns in, it only took 1second for the turn to end when I click the 'end turn' button. Hoever, when I played on large maps or bigger, it took 3-6seconds for the turn to end when I click the 'end turn' button. This occurs after 50 turns or more. Is this a bug? or a memory problem?

I agree with Vinraith. Eventhough I usually have the anomalies setting on 'common' or 'abundant', it'll be nice to have the option to turn it off completely to get a different experience. I'm not a software program but I believe it'll just take a small change on the program code to have it completely turned off?? Nevertheless, I'm delighted 1.7 update will have anomalies respawning randomly. Will there be an option to turn on/off the ability to respawn anomalies?

Great work on the guide. Good read for newbies and veterans. With all due respect, it would be the perfect guide if the design's better. Instead of having links to the 30 pages, perhaps a left menu bar with main and sub catergories would improve the navigation. Below is a simple example.. The dread lords stationed their ships around my planets. I couldnt build any offensive ships nor transports as they got wiped out immediately after they orbit my planets...

I'm tempted to start a 'Ideas for 1.7' thread but I think I should leave it to frogboy whenever he's ready Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope to see a good 1.7 update for Dark Avatar.

I need help in this mission. Within 30 turns, the dread lords flew to my planets and took out all my defenses with dozen of doom rays (600++ dmg). They just stayed near my planets and whatever ships I can churn out, the dread lords blew them to dust. Soon their troop ships came and took over my planets 1 by 1. I'm playing at 'tough' difficulty setting.

Yup, never use the core ships for their weapons, defenses, engines, etc are not implemented base on the requirements of the particular game you're in.

I heard stardock's moving onto a fantasy strategy game where it implements both turn-base and real-time. Won't it be like Medival War 2? If it's graphics heeavy then I guess I'll have to miss it cause my laptop's only on an ATI x300 graphics card I do hope stardock continues to improve GalCiv 2, either with another expansion or GalCiv 3. Keep the graphics beautiful yet simple so all laptop users

I'm not too sure which mission are you at for I've not touched the original dread lords campaign for ages. I'm currently on dark avatar campaign. I understand the dread lords have some wicked ships early in the game. This is what I do... 1) Check out what type of offensive weapons they have and research on the defensives that counter their offensive. 2) Economy of your civilizations is important. When you have lots of $$, you can build lots of ships to take out the dre

2 more have been planned since release. Are you serious? There's gonna be 1 more expansion besides Dark Avatar? I can't wait for another expansion to be honest and I hope the developers do not give up on GalCiv2.

I second Mistralok's thoughts. Stardock's one of the most sincere, if not the most sincere, software development company. You can hardly get the developers and CEO to participate in forums and they really do listen to our feedback. Keep up the good work Stardock!

I managed to complete this mission last week. I installed my scout ship with fast engines, out running the dread lords, and managed to reach sector 1-3 with the dread lords chasing me

If you do not edit the personalities of your AIs, I suggest you set the difficulty to at least 'Tough'. At this level, AIs think alot better and the economics of all AIs are not at adisadvantage compare to yours. Read the manual about difficulty level. GalCiv2:DA has got fantastic AI, trust me with this. It's like having another human player controlling them.

But I know the score represents how well you are doing compared to the other players and that a score of hundred means you are keeping up with the rest. My example shows a simple way to get to such a number. Alright, your explaination does makes sense. Tks alot. =] Does anyone have any other theories?
