Outposts don't become cities, I can snake buildings to connect to an outpost, but it won't let me snake beyond that -- the city won't allow me to attach buildings to an outpost even if I've snaked my city to get the outpost to get encompassed by my city.
How do you direct where a building will go when you try to build it? I've seen it mentioned a few times, but haven't figured it out in game.

I've seen this before, but I attributed it to the 'fight the environment' part. Ie, the monsters are blocking you from being able to settle an area, so once they're cleaned out, you can see more fertile lands. It's happened enough that I'm using that approach now. On the other hand I've also seen the 'drop an outpost and suddenly land becomes viable', or land randomly becomes viable later. This means that you can fou

for: " * AIs gang up on the player in war. Confidence: Low Reasoning: I was consistently near the top of the pack. No one attacked me. The AIs ganged up on Kraxis as I was crushing it. If the AIs gang up, it's on weaker nations, not on the player specifically. Of course, with all the ways the AI gets an advantage, it's easy for a player to end on the bottom.

As others have said, it really matters what perks you choose on leveling. If you're not taking the 'good' ones (even common stuff) then you're not making a good hero. Though, the only one that seems to be pretty bad is the governor type. The best that I've seen them do is be able to lower unrest in a city, but that also means that they can't wander around and get XP. Converting Mana->XP on them is rather wasteful as well as y

Sometimes it's at the beginning when a spell/effect is supposed to take effect, but there's no target or the target is invalid (I think the cursing/whatever enemy units spell is one of them). What seems to work for me is to 'force advance' the turn (top right panel, you can auto advance the unit turns, or just let the auto-combat AI fi

Actually, challenging is too easy, but that's on the AI side of things (for reference, map size was medium and AIs were 4-5 and no save/reload). I played a few times on 'challenging' to learn the game (what's a manual for when you buy it on steam???) and I never felt threatened by the AI players. Things I did see though (and have also seen on hard): - AI doesn't clear it's own local monsters. At least, not often enough and n
