Unless I'm blind, it doesn't appear to be available yet on their site. It's not listed on the freeware page or on the home page that I can see. Sounds good though.

Call me stupid, but exactly how do I get this skinsuite? I'm in the wincustomize browser right now and cannot see it anywhere
You might point out that skinstudio does come with a supply of freely usable gui-elements.
Doreen, you actually find stuff to download for ppc? My favorite download sites are: 1. Authors when available 2. Betanews and 3. Shell City for Windows stuff 4. Palmgear 5. FreewarePalm Yeah, I'm a Palm Pilot guy <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cm
You should have a button in the Windowblinds config that will do a quick analysis of the system and provide some suggestions. If it appears there is a lot running at startup, a message could say if WB is running slow, try turning off some of the other apps running at startup etc. Kind of like a quick diagnostic. If I remember right, the beta of the new WinFX has something like this.
I agree that something should be done. However, the older OS's in some ways need customization the most, it just has to be done carefully. I'm still stuck with NT4 at work, and it would be horrible if I could not skin it. Until recently I ran WinME at home (now xp thankfully!) I would not want skinning apps like Windowblinds to check your OS and then say "sorry, no go". It would make sense though to have some features unavailable that just produce too many headaches on older OS's (like in W
I'm pretty fortunate. In Manitoba, Canada, Cable/DSL prices have been going down rather than up. The prices used to be $50, but are now around $35 - 40 canadian per month for full service. I'm using DSL and I actually switched to their light package which has a speed cap, but is only $25 per month, about what unlimited dialup access was just a few months ago. The speed is ok, about 5 or 6 times 56k dialup speed. Fast enough unless you're always downloading 100mb files.
What kind of suites are going to be exclusively available to subscribers? Are some of the pixelstudio suites included?
Wow. Haven't checked in for a couple of months. I'd love to print out this thread, but I don't think I can afford the paper
Happy birthday starone! starone - Just found out how to get smiles legend - oh boy! Speaking of this, can anyone tell me how to make my text show up in red like everyone else seems to know how to do.
I know this isn't a great place for a bug report on a beta, but I currently don't have access to the stardock newsgroups. NT4 has some problems with WB3.19 and the new cacheing. The new WB beta posted to ODNT on Jan 30 works amazingly great on my Win2k system, but its a different story on my work NT4 machine. The new image cacheing seems to have problems. Running WB I get no bitmaps. All buttons are black and there is no title bar etc. I tried a reinstall, checked the .dll version etc. a

To answer your question, when I can drag myself away from my computer, or even harder playing with my palm IIIc, I spend time with my family (wife and 2 1/2yr old boy, and baby X due in a month), or reading Sci-fi/Fantasy

oh oh. It's been over 2 hours. Does that mean this chat has to end? Aschell begins to sniff
I did post some mention of it last night on the OB and Skinstudio newsgroups. I'll check again tonight and add more detail there if necessary. Glad it's working for you! I was so disappointed initially when I excitedly loaded some of my favorite XP skins and they were not converted. Now I can rest easy and enjoy my beautiful startbar on my NT4 work machine. What a difference OB and WB have made in using that old operating system! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif"
Read my Object Bar .90 and windowblinds thread for details about why OB will not convert some XP skins, and how to fix them so they will.
I'll use Bluegrove XP as an example. Open the .uis file in a text editor. Just before the [Personality] section add: [XPTaskbar] File=BlueGroveXP\xpstuff.xp Create a text file called xpstuff.xp in the skins directory. Scan through the .uis file for any sections like this: [Taskbar.whatever] [Startpanel.whatever] Move these items to the xpstuff.xp file and delete them from the .uis file. Now OB will convert it. TIP: If you were already ru
I figured it out. The skins that don't convert, don't have a xpstuf.xp file. All the xp stuff is right in the .uis. I removed all the xp stuff and put it in a xpstuff.xp file and now it converts! I guess WB or Skinstudio must be fine with everything in the uis, but OB specifically needs the xpstuff.xp file.
So can anyone figure out what is missing in the XP skins so OB can recognize them and convert them? I wish there was a force convert, but likely the results wouldn't be too good if there was something wron with the skin. I tried messing around with some skins that should convert in Skinstudio, fixed any errors I could find, and still no conversion. Oh well, it always seems to be the XP skins I want the most don't get converted <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sad.gif" border
New OB version posted 0.95a fixes a problem with the winxp skin folder being changed or something like that. That will likely get you back up and running. However, with the new version, there are still some particular XP skins that are not getting converted. I assume that something is missing or incorrect in these skins? I'd love to know what, so I can fix them myself. Examples are SkyeXp, Dusk-till-dawn, Blue Grove XP. When trying these skins the OB conversion dialog flashes on screen the
I love the ability for OB .90 to convert and apply a current WB XP skin to the OB bar. Works great! Only, there seems to be a problem with some WB XP skins listed in the XP directory here. I don't have XP to see whether there is a problem with these skins used by WB in XP, but some of them do not get converted by OB. For example, Dusk-till-dawn, blueprint xp, SkyeXP, JoccaBLUE. This is on NT4sp6, and win2k. Is there something missing in these skins? They are supposed to skin the XP taskbar
Could the guide be posted as a zip somewhere? I can't seem to get a decent printout. I can load the file fine in IE, but when I print, several of the images are missing. I can't seem to load the file in Netscape 4.7, I keep getting a network connection reset message. If I can save it locally, then I may be able to print it properly. Thanks. PS: I LOVE WB3. It's come a long way, even during the month it's been available on ODNT!
DarkElf, hopefully there will be more skins made now that a public preview is available, and more people have a chance to play.
