Did you happen to kill something that turn, like a pioneer belonging to the AI?

Check the prestige of the cities, and post the values as that is the population growth.
I'm kind of curious about the expectations for 1.1, it's almost as if people are expecting to see a new game. I am expecting the same game with some better AI, balance changes, and a few new features. If that will make you like the game more, great, but if the game is boring for some folks now I don't see how 1.1 will radically change that. Nope, it just removes it from the list of unit designs.
Unfortunately, the tech tree doesn't work like that. It's just simple prerequisites.
Stardock could make it possible to use tech level as a prereq (and likely should so it is an option for modders).
There is a tech to be able to raze cities, or you can hit the 'X' key and then hit the X in the upper right corner of the city details page.
Loading maps works, but it still uses a random world name.

Currently diplomaic victory is one player being voted the winner. I think it would be better if it required ALL remaining players to be allied with everyone. To support this it would need to be possible to negotiate peace / alliances between other players (somewhat like getting them to declare war on someone, only it would be a three way discussion).
i'm stuck on the same mission......and when should I be able to research spells and find scholars to research technology? this game is quickly turning into a waste of 50 bucks.
Research is disabled in the campaign. Try playing a non-camaign game if you want research.
I definitely agree on cutting/blunt weapons. I never research both because once you have one the other is essentially redundant because different weapon types are too similar to begin with. As for armor/weapons alternating, I think that's probably a good thing. The way the tech tree works, it's really easy to bee-line to a specific tech, so forcing you to balancing your weapons and armor techs so you don't get out of whack is
Magic protection does not work, period.
Yes, but unless you build everything in one city (including the buildings you can only get one of), and do not destroy excess housing after reaching level 5, then you are unlikely to reach it.
The logic behind it is better weapons cause better armor to be designed which in turn makes better weapons needed; however, a better way would to only make logical upgrades a requirement (e.g. light armor require basic armor) and a required level of military tech (warfare would need to progress enough for the better upgrade to come along).
The first level for Kingdoms appears to be random, as I have had it spawn a Crystal Crag.
A few hints: - Have your sovreign do the quest, as only they can finish it (the completion dialog only appears when they return with the egg) and is sometimes seems that having another hero do it causes issues. - Do not save and reload during the quest. - The egg does not need to be equipped.
Elemental Shards make spells stronger as stated above, Elementium is used for some armor and weapons that also come from the magic tree; however the armor is not as good as master heavy steel plate in terms of defence (but is has a smaller speed penalty). The Elementium chest plate blocks the use of arm guards currently. Really is does not matter much as it is nearly impossible

Quick question: did any of you save and load after getting the quest and getting 25 crystals? Saving and loading can cause issues with some non-campaign quests, and that might be a factor here.
also, my sovereign gained a level from a combat that he wasn't in. not sure what that was all about.
Sovreigns get XP whenever you have troops in a battle, regardless of whether or not they are present.
I would prefer to play the most 'intelligent' setting for the AI with small boosts, others like to play the hard AI with big buffs. Therefore the options should be separate so each player can pick the setting they find to be the most fun.

Get the Ivo map downloaded and fix the bit about player one starting with too much preplaced stuff. Otherwise it is a good map for trying to cast the spell of making with extra shards.
