I'm confused by population growth too. From what I can work out: 1) if the planet has less than 1,000 m people, it grows at some variable amount, possiblly a percentage. 2) Over a billion it seems to grow at 100m for mid-range approval ratings 3) For a larger planet it was growthing at 250 m but I can't remember the approval ratings. I'd also like to know if the approval rating growth bands are the same after the last patch.

Well you can get it from play.com, based on the island of Jersey. Also I think you can order direct from the Paradox website (in Sweden). I'm guess the French outfit Store4War might have it too. If you're asking about whether it will be stocked in shops in Brussels, I guess Paradox might know ... check their website and drop them a line. Hope that helps.
can the arrow keys control the map view instead of the movement of the ships? I second this one.
I'm trying to install Stardock Central but I'm getting the error "explorer.exe is not a Win32 file" near the end of the installation. When I type in explorer.exe in Start->Run... I get the same error if I don't type in the path, but when I type in the correct path "C:/WIndows/explorer.exe" it runs fine. My computer is otherwise running fine, and I regularly install a few programs a week without any problems. I've done a full Norton scan and have no virsuses, malware and su
The "limited edition" arrived on my doorstep from play.com 7:30 this morning
Well, in spite of my Wednesday 22:00 email from Play.com saying it was posted, it is now 15:15 on Friday and no game. Anyone else? Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, so no drama as I am busy tonight any way explaining cricket to some German girls. Yes, even GalCiv must take a back seat to cricket and girls (who ride in the front with me), but that's easy to say when you don't have a copy.
Email from Play.com at 20:00 GMT: "Your order has been posted" 'nuff said.
Play.com have it for release on Friday where I have it on pre-order. Anybody in the UK heard anything or seen anything to make them think it won't be released on Friday? Makris
Fox: "The Drengin: When Galactic Empires Go Bad"
I (mis)remember reading Brad saying somewhere that the AI would surrender when the cause was hopeless. I'm just playing a game (medium, all AI intelligent) where the Dregs had about 1/3 of the galaxy, I had 1/3 and the other shared the rest equally. The Dregs had about 12-14 planets. I was forced to take each one as they didn't surrender, eventhough quite early on they were clearly beaten. This took quite some time and was boring as they didn't have a chance. They were also at war with ever
I want to add my voice in support of two suggestions about trade: Auto-resolve trade: Yin and bentcd (and perhaps others - I only went as far as post 49) suggestions are both good. Either let us know the cash/influence balancing number for a trade, or prevent us from endless goal-seek manual entries. There is no skill in it as it stands, it is only a tedious mechanical process that I would rather the computer perform for me. Tech tree: I would like some way to know either th
I have to agree with the original poster. I bought the beta when it came out last year, and I am a big supporter of the game, but the download process is not the best. I'm only on a 56k in the UK (waiting for my DSL to be installed at a new address - it will take a few weeks for a variety of reasons), and I thought I'd just have to update from the previous beta downloads. But, based on Brad's advice, after a failed install for some reason I don't remember, I unistalled and started fro
How do you set your nick on SDC? I've gone through all the menu options as far as I can tell, and all I could see was my nick in the chat settings. When I posted on the board it came up with my full name.
IMHO it might be a good idea for Stardock to post a sticky that talks about some of the game's more controversial design decisions (at least in some people's opinion). I'm thinking specifically about multiplayer, and possibly tactical combat. I'd hate to see the board flooded on release with "THIS GAME SUX!" and similar by people slamming the game for what were legitimate design decisions. I think it might detract from the impact of what I'm sure will be (based on the betas) a very positive v
