I submitted a screenshot for Pic of the Day over at FileFront's Sins of a Solar Empire Files , and it looks like it made the cut! It's called Death of Tarsika. I took it during a natsy, big fleet battle between my TEC forces and the Vasari. The picture captured the moment when an enemy Jarrasul Evacuator succumbs to my attacks and erupts with a massive blastwave. It was happenstance that one of my Dunovs appears to be fleeing th

I was just trolling the internet looking for the latest news about Entrenchment when I came across this old teaser video for Sins. When I first saw the vid, and others like it, I couldn't wait for the game. Now that I've owned Sins for most of a year, I ask myself if the hype matched the reality.... It sure did! [e digicons][/e] Can't wait for E

I would like to see more death animations for destroyed capital ships. One of my favoite sims is Silent Hunter IV (and III for that matter). One of the great pleasures in that game is watching each ship go through its unique death animation. Some explode, some split in half, some just slowly sink. The expectation of the death animation is what makes it worth all the work to sink a ship. I think Sins should have something similar for dying caps. Another idea, albeit this might not be

I did an AAR as a forum post at a different website. You can read it here (sorry, I'm too lazy to repost it all here): [link="http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73673"]WWW Link[/link] I am expecting a follow-up battle soon, so I should have another AAR ready in the future. I'll post it here first. Hey: maybe there should be an official screenshots thread like other games have? I love to look at those. :HOT:

I'm glad to read that other people are having trouble with the AI ganging up on them. For a while there I thought I must be the worst strategist in the world because all my allies would eventually become my enemy and gang up on me in massive, three AI cooperative fleet attacks! Sheesh, I can't keep one ally happy but the computer can manage a three-way alliance?!? Yeah, the diplo AI needs to be tweaked some. For now, I am playing a locked teams scenario (with one AI on my

Hey all, I wrote a review for Gamesquad.com, a website I help maintain: Sins Review at Gamesquad.com: [link="http://www.gamesquad.com/index.php?option=com_articles&id=8&pform=&aid=186"]WWW Link[/link] I gave it a 9.0, which makes it an Editor's Choice.

Stardock makes it very easy to download. I have cable broadband and was topping speeds around 1.5mbs, albeit it did slowy drop to around 750kbs near the end. All in all, it took me around 15-20 minutes to download. And once it was on my HD, Stardock did the rest: it installed it, registered it, and asked me if I wanted to play it all with a single click of the mouse! You can't beat that service! The only downside of DLing it is that the manual is in PDF form, of course. But you could alway

I've always been something of a grognard (hardcore wargamer) my whole gaming life and I am finding the fleet actions in Sins to be remarkably historical in nature. What I mean by that is how the different ship classes need to work together to form a coherent fighting force. I've been in a few battles that eerily resembled the Battle of the Coral Sea or Midway! If you want to get good at Sins, forget everything you learned in other sci-fi games and pick up a few books on the naval tactics and

When I first saw a late build of Sins, the first mod that popped into mind was one for Battlefleet Gothic! I just want to wish you guys God's speed on it! It sounds really good so far!
