Why not turn them over to someone they _like_?
Interesting question CaptainPatch. Similar surrenders happened to me several times playing "Dread Lords", and it sucks...

??? [ As the terran ambassador once said to me (playing a custom race): "What is it, SWH? No, I mean literally, what ARE you?" ]
Man I like TOS!! Grew up with that and I still think it's the best SciFi-series ever created. I can't really describe what I mean (due to lack of proper english vocabulary... :SNIFF!: ) but there's so much fine detailed humor and morale/philosophy I miss elsewhere. (...and yes I know that some -perhaps many- of the settings/dialogues/characters were ... ludicrous, especially the 'effects' were, but: who cares?) [Damn, I just remembered the giant stone age spears in "The G
Nicely done s w h. Were you using Torians for SuperBreeder?
Thanks KP - and no, since I play DL [:SURPRISED:], there are no spore ships for me... I tried the 'all-labs-strategy' described by Wyndstar over in [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/173068/page/13"]this[/link] MVL-thread.
Gentlemen - I finally made it... ;) Although most certainly [link="http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=17501"]these[/link] are the lowest scoring ZYW ever submitted I'm glad I could achieve them. Since I'm still relatively new to the game there's lots of things to figure out and to learn. It's very intersting what an impact on success micromanagement, order of building/research and the choice for buying vs. leasing can have (especially in ZYWs, but also in a

Dammit guys - it's official now: I'm a cheater. :SURPRISED: I've tried so hard joining this 'club' that I rushed the last Thalan hideout 1 turn too soon... LOL (The result: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=17501) Unfortunately, it's impossible now to reload, postpone their end for 1 week and submit the game again. All I get is a bad message telling me I've already submitted this game. :( Is there anything I can do??
The Year Zero Club isn't an empire.
Isn't this the 2nd thread in which 'your' YZC is assumed to be an MV empire?? It seems you have to think about that... :D
Welcome, dude.
P.S. My fiancee hates you guys, and hates every civ out there. I seriously fear her worse than any Terror Star out there now.
Get her some flowers... ;)
I hope they're going to put the Meta medals and where you can see members logged on at the bottom of the forums back up. The member number thing also is a little too statisticy and impersonal, liked the user-classes better (Citizen, Veteran, etc.)
I second that! Not quite sure about this karma, but where the heck are the medals?? :SNIFF!:
Agreed. It's worth a moment of thought...
Something's wrong with the OP, since I'm "fleet captain" with only 20 submitted games. [Must be due to my mad skills... :SNIFF!:]
Interesting. I was wondering how these outstanding scores of some experienced players can be achieved, so I read the forums a bit about military starbase arrays and other scoring-related techniques.
the score is in fact some sort of integral, meaning that achieving an extreme rating two turne before winning doesn't do much good. You need to have high rating for most of the game.
The question that comes to mind is: How do you know when to end a game for maxi
Unfortunately he got badly beaten in the end... (:( Damn, most certainly this was his last World Championship - an era is about to end. (So glad I saw him in an exhibition over here in germany this february - he's a tremendous entertainer and really got style.) As for 9-ball: Sometimes I get to play it (or 8-ball) after months of just 'amateurishing' in snooker. Then the table is so small and pockets are so big... ;)
In many circumstances, it's advantageous to start and end a war in the same turn. I've found that a very effective way of doing that is to completely exterminate the enemy in that one turn.
:D
What's going on here, guys? LOL...
Are there any snooker fans here? Look at Steve Davis - 5th frame in a row. -> He still can do it.
Hmm - I did never restart a game... A bit off topic, but: In my last game I had an amazing colony rush which got me 2/3 of all planets (medium galaxy, 2 opponents) and afterwards all bonus resources but 2. Moreover, I found a class 32 planet which is the highest I've seen so far. Another planet was a real research monster... Only PQ8, but it contained a +700%, a +300% and another 2 +100% research bonus tiles, which I plastered with Neutrality Learning Centers. At the end of the game
Thanks kryo, so it seems I have to get DA soon... :)
people should know which abilities they may change to what extent.

If you intend to go on the metaverse with it, bear in mind that most changes made outside the game that are not purely aesthetic will cause a cheat flag.
Hmmm... Since I wish to keep it Metaverse-compatible, the custom race is now nothing than another pre-defined race (soldering+morale instead of, lets say, miniaturization+military bonus) on which I may spend my 10 ability points on
Sorry CodeCritter, I can't remember that and the savegames are long gone... But since I plan to have another game or two with the Thalan next time, I'll watch for this.
Got another thing like this the other day: I played as the Thalans and was building a new medium ship from scratch. The first weapon I tried to mount would consistently appear on a completely different spot, leaving me with no opportunity than to exit the shipyard, because I couldn't even select it to delete or remove it afterwards. That happened as often as I enjoyed trying it, so I reloaded the game from the last autosave file and everything was fine... Perhaps this is the sa
Thank you Nickziller, that's a good start. But I still can't believe the player is left with hacking some file to change his custom race... Of course I intend to play games on the Metaverse with it, so people should know which abilities they may change to what extent. I think I read something about it in the forums long ago but can't find it anymore... (Besides I'm only playing DL at the moment.)
I wanted to start a new game as a custom race, so I tried to set things up (something like pop growth+econ+luck...). After clearing all pre-selected abilities I recognized that some stuff like "soldiering +XX" and "loyalty +YY" would remain as what I'd describe as the custom races core abilities. I had expected being able to customize everything , so I searched the WIKI about that
Or you just right-click on the blue message icon falling down on the right side when a ship has been built...
