The research cost calculation is not a bug. Late in development, there were a number of posts complaining that researching late stage techs was too cheap and that it should be more epic. Therefore, we added that if the # of techs researched > N then cost = cost X Z where Z is a factor that slowly increases. It is working as designed, it's just that you guys (and us) don't like it. So we're changing it back to the way it was.
Ok, so it is like i thought - no

But please do not make the techs too cheap. My recent gigantic game is going well and in the older versions i didnt like the fact i got the full tech tree researched long before the end of the game (even in normal speed). I like the idea you cant research everything in the game, so you have to know what you need. In my opinion increasing tech costs just alter the way you have to play, providing a new challenge, that might be too harsh for some, realizing that the old strategy does not work anymo
kryo, can you confirm it is a bug or is it just balanced too harsh?
I just have to add that above example with 24 wks is with 20% research. I get it in 5 wks with the slider set to 100%. My resaerch spending is 4800bc approx. when set to 100% This game definitely will come out well, i see no potential for getting stuck, at least if i do not do absolute b***sh*t with it. Just for the case, it is intended the way it is - devs, notice my remark i do not share the opinion the game is unplayable, at least if i am right with this and not only lucky in not having
The author of this thread is complaining about research costs of 8000. My most expensive technology takes 24 weeks and costs about 56000 pts as you can see here: [link="http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=supremedefme2.jpg"][/link] But as i said my game has progressed very far, difficulty is tough, research speed normal i believe. I do not expect to lose, i am technologically over the edge, leaving
Yes but why BLUE? Why do our eyes see a specific refraction of color as that particular shade? And why do we call that shade BLUE?Seriously, thanks for the definition. I kind of figured that it would be something like that. Is there any down side to picking one civilization over another? If that Civ happens to zero out their econ/research, does/could it have negative impact on mine? Does this get broken when I finally surprise attack them?
Actually the basis is the
I am at the half of my immense game and i did not notice an increase in tech cost that really bothers me - maybe it is just a question of playstyle and not really a bug?
Small things sometimes take very long to be discovered. Did you ever have been in the situation you want to get a planet full with buildings of the same type? You click on build a few times but until now i do not understand what determines whether you can click the button multiple times or only one time and then it is greyed out. (MAybe someone who knows can explain that to me). But last game i realized doubleclick on the building just adds it to a randomly selected free tile. Having that discov
There is no strategy x which allows you to beat the game every time in the best way. That whats great about this game. Every game plays different and you have to adjust your strategy to the circumstances. Just use your brain and get a feeling of it through experience. If you encounter a problem (more definite than "how to win") you are free to ask here again.
Yes. Make your own ships. And - do not make the mistake of thinking "just one other tech and i will build it". I know everyone has this problem - it is the same like the "just another turn"-problem when you want to stop playing. Just get satisified with what you have. You can upgrade ships everytime you want (and have the money to), so just keep building that things and when you got a new tech upgrade them. If you dont you will end up like me on my first games - building almost no ships until yo
No, no, no, no, NOOO! You guys dont have a clue... The greatest movie monster definitely was the rabbit from "Monthy Python and the holy grail" - What do you say NOW? :)
I read something here about building a ship and packing it with sensors to see the whole map revealed. So i build a huge hulled ship full with sensors, but it did not have the sensor range shown but only the range, that my other ships had. I have already developed eyes of the universe, does that somehow influence max sensor range as well? Is it intentional or a bug?
as far as I can tell there has never been even one succesful test of any psionic power under controlled conditions using the scientific method.Actually Mind readers and Psychic's have been proven. they exist. There is still further testing needed to prove Ghost whisper's and Fortune tellers but Mind readers are Real. Scary and totally unexpected to hear but it is true. That's why I was asking about telekinetics... I heard their was a special group who perform Telekinetics on themselves for
After having the problem a few times now i can further specify it. I do not know what exactly causes it, but pressing the space bar as suggested here solves it. As well, going to the main menu sometimes does solve it too. If I move ships manually i sometimes see a followup move of another ship but then again everything stops and no turn button. It seems to be something with the automatic movement of ships at the end of a round.
I believe i would be complaining as well if i would not had known that before. The advertising is just delusive, no one can see that before he gets his game, or before he has read it here in the forums. SD, at least you could update your online shop and add a note that points out, there is no box.
It's a mockup image for the purpose of identifying the product in the listing. It was the same with DA a year ago. There simply is no retail box. One was never made, as the game isn't going to retail, so there's nothing to give. We've never hidden from anyone that the CD order is *just* a CD. Every person who's asked about it was plainly told exactly that, CD in a sleeve. The order pages simply say "CD". I'm sorry that you assumed it would be otherwise, and maybe it should have been more ob
Those that are around in this forum know that TA CD-version is only a CD in a slipcase, no retail box is available and i believe there is nothing planned for a retail box in the future. I think you are absolutely right about the advertisement, i checked it again a minute ago, there is no hint if you buy it, that you do not get the box shown on the picture in the shop. It does say "digital download + cd" but noone who doesnt know it would assume you`ll get only a cd without a box/manual
Is there any way to show the tech tree in the tech editor the way it is shown in the game?
It may be personal taste but in my opinion the game just got better from expansion to expansion. TA just takes the game to the edge, if you want everything GalCiv2 has to offer, buy DA and TA. I can see no reason why one should return to the older games, the new TA Expansion being just a huge tweaked out version of the older versions. TA is just plainly worth every cent of its price, i have never seen a better expansion pack than this for any game i played. - The speed of
I do agree that it would be a good thing if the information of the minimap were shared with the main map. I do see no reason why it should make a difference if i maneuver my ships by clicking on the minimap in microscopial scale or if i am able to see planets and stars(only their location)on the mainmap when stellar cartography has been researched. It just makes orientation easier and does not affect gameplay very much in my opinion.
I am aware that it has technical reasons, but at least one could be rewarded by an aditional score modificator for galaxy size.
The "delete account" button is right next to "delete brain". Maybe you just clicked wrong. That by the way might as well explain why you have already asked this question before for about 342543 times in this forum.
I think that it should be changed. Playing immense should have some kind of benefit, i want to be awarded for playing that long for a win. Difficulties do modificate score as well - why not the galaxy size?
Did you have a clean install (means: complete uninstall of the TA beta and the reinstall of the final version)?
Who cares for manuals. I made it to masochistic without taking a look into the manual (except the story). The manual really is the last thing i want to be improved for TA, there are much more important issues and i can live with the way it is right now. What do you expect? TA is not that much different from DA, basic strategies in the game you have to discover by yourselves. In my opinion those that use the editors do not need to look in the manual for it. If you are already a modder these just
