I 'd welcome any increase in AI agresivity, but I think the main problem is that a good economic posoition can be achieved way too fast. Maybe slow down population growth and increase the cost of economical technologies, given the AI bonus at higher difficulty levels, it'd be really hard for the player get on top. But I guess that would also bring its own issues. Maybe population growth could be set by the player as a map option like tech speed, I'd like that.

I love this game, and I agree it's got the best AI on a computer game so far, or at least one of the best... but still, there're are some things I just can't understand. Today I decided to play the campaign, and I have to say I'm quite disappointed with Ai performance. I understand the AI should be able to play a scenario a lot better than a random game. In the scenario there are clear goals, and the AI can be programmed to follow a scenario specific strategy. I just played

Wait - you stop playing Galciv 2 because of the bad AI, and go back to playing ROME: TOTAL WAR ??? Romes AI can't even hope to beat me on the very hard campaign level, where it gets 10.000 gold extra per turn. The strategic AI is utterly crap, the AI empires will even start wars with you when you have a three times larger army and them already having wars

An exploit that I have read about is to place a constructor and an attack ship near a resource base and then gift the attack ship to someone they are at war with. Considering how lightly defended the bases often are, it sounds like something that would work most of the time I tried that once, and the freaking coward just flew away with

I also didn't know any english until I bought this game. People just don't realize how educative playing computer games can be. Just be careful don't learn to speak german like a Drengin! (sorry, just making some fun)

I know what you mean, it's very easy for the human player to be opportunistic. You can also send your transports to a war between to ai's and do all the planet grab, since the winning ai wil take its time to send its own transports. Anyway it's always up to the player to behave like this or not. Some may even consider it an exploit. As for the resource starbases. It would be fixed if the attacker captures the starbase instead of destroying it. An yeah, I also see sometimes

Most of my games are also like that at the beginning, but once in a while I get a really fun start. I had one game on a gigantic galaxy with all 9 civs where I started in corner next to the Drengin and almost isolated from the other races. I think it took over 100 turns before I met anyone else. I had to start building war ships right from the beginning to survive wave after wave of fighters and transports. I hadn't time to research much sensor (very slow tech setting) so that they were appearin

Something like that has already been posted by other people, and i have to say I agree with you. I don't know about physics, but to me it makes more sense like that. Engines could be a lot bigger for bigger hulls, so that if you want to make a fast big ship, engines will take all the room. On the other hand, it'd make more sense to me if weapons were always the same size, no matter the hull, then laser V is always laser V, but you need a bigger engine for a bigger ship. This would make smaller s

I see your point dthought, and you might be right, but i still think different. If the Altarians and the Thalans don't like each other, you shouldn't be able to ally with both. You could have a good commercial relation with both, and like both, but an alliance is something more than that. If you take a look a Cuba during the cold war, to say an example, they were allied with the russians, and obviusly, they couldn't ally with the US too, that wouldn't make sense. And by being allied

Just one more thing about diplomacy. Some times i see things that don't make much sense to me. Like A is at war with B, B at war with C, C at war with A, like a triangle war, or also a square war if you include D. I think when a war involves more than two civs, they should form two sides. Three or more sides all fighting against each other doens't make sense to me. It also happens with alliances, where A is ally with B and with C, but B and C may even be at war with each other!

I'm not sure the way it exactly works, but if you set military production to 1% and use overflow from social production to build ships you won't get nearly as much military production as you would get if you set the military slider higher and the social slider lower. You're losing a certain amount in the process. I don't know if has to do with bonuses or what. This is very noticiable in planets with a lot of production. You can make a test: pick your best factory-planet, fix researc

I'm with you BoomFrog, waste is bad. If you're building a ship that costs 900 and your planet is producing 890, you're wasting a lot of money there. It doesn't matter if your smaller planets waste 20 bc for every constructor they build, but once i get to building mode (i play in very slow technology, so i don't build ships all the time) i always adjust the sliders and the focus of planets to waste the minimum in my high production planets, and that's sometimes a lot of work. Once I have research

Same happens to me. When I play Gigantic or Huge maps it seems to be limit my ships can't pass no matter if I research all life support technologies and load the ships with life support modules. I can load a cargo hull only with life support modules and it still won't travel beyond that limit. Usually the furthest distand you can travel is limited by a circle, but in this case, the limit is a straight line that darkens out a whole strip of the map. Yes, building star bases or conquer
