Also, if you unload DesktopX with the helper still loaded it will pop up everytime you start up DX. To rectify this, right-click on the DX system tray icon and choose 'Toggle Object Palette' to make the helper go away. Now when you unload and reload it should not appear. Hope this helps.

Hmm. If your current desktop theme was saved with the helper loaded it will continue to pop up. If this is the case you would have to close the helper and then save your desktop theme. It shouldn't come up anymore but if it still comes up I don't know what the problem is.

I'm trying to make a user configurable shortcut. I was able to create one that allows the user to drag and drop a file or program onto the shortcut (which is displayed as text), and then rename the display text to whatever they want. The dropped files are stored in PersistStorage, the extension of the file is checked, and later the filepath is called on when it's time to run the file. The problem: I can execute executables but I have to go through a security check everytime

Thanks. I'll try to modify it and upload it. I used DesktopX 3.0 Professional and Photoshop 7 for all the artwork.

Thanks, TheGuyPc! This widget is very personalized to my computer. Certain programs may not be available to other users. I'll try to modify it to make it more neutral so that anyone can use it. When you mouse over the orbs it basically pops up and reveals shortcuts to various programs and folders. As you can see they are grouped by network, video, music, and shared places. I'll try to link more pics so you can get the gist of this widget.

I keep getting a script error saying that the object does not support Desktop.Objects.Hue Is this not how you access the properties of all other objects? Is there another way to access all other objects at once or am I missing something? Thank You

I would like the object the user is interacting with (via mouse over) to automatically move up the z-order so that it is on top of the other objects. Is this possible? What does Object.SetFocus actually do? Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply and offer suggetions. I finally got it all sorted out here: Link And now it works! (Of course, if I have any more problems you'll see me around.)

Okay, I got the mask effect to work and it is a really cool technique, BUT my object is circular therefore I need it to grow radially. The mask technique does not do this so I still had to use animation (i.e. onmouseleave object state= "shrink") and that brings me right back to square one with the mouse over= mouse away problem. I seem to be going in circles! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/sd_com/smiles/SadAngry.gif" border=0 ALIGN

I know you can add to the height and width but that has the same effect as dragging on one corner of your window. I don't want to use animation because it conflicts with the script I'm using. My object is circular, therefore, I need it to grow radially. How can I achieve this? Is there anything in DX that deals with the object's overall size/radius? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah, I think that was me in the other boards as well. RomanDA suggested the mask effect but I don't understand at all how that works. It involves alot of scripting, none of which I understand. Maybe I should ask him for
