Genghis Kahn (Nintendo) That wierd chinese game, Genghis Khan on the pc. Used to play it hot seat, 15 of us after roleplaying till some really sad time in the morning, drinking beer. Those were the days... Is it the game "Genghis Khan" by "Koei"? This was my first love, too! Shortly after it was "Battle Isle"... mayb

I really prefer to have the Expansion/Gold Version later and get more features. I still miss some stuff when I look at the DA announcement. In general, for more depth and variety in gameplay I would also wait until next summer! By and large, my personal probability to get the Expansion/Gold Version will increase with the quality and maturity of the game's content...
Such things may be possible in a tactical battle system depending on how detailed it was made (tac is under consideration for GC3). But as GC2 simply crunches the numbers and shows you a pretty scene to illustrate the results, there's really no way to add any sort of special things like that in the current system I do not believe that this is tru
YES.YES.YES. I really like this post. The probability of buying "Dark Avatar" has just become a 100%...
I reckon the expansion will need to address these things MORE than worry about new campaign ect. If i want a story i'll go read Asimov, i come here to get a strategy fix dammit I think so, too. I wonder which % actually plays/has played the campaign (new poll?) I voted against the 8,95 expansion just because there is much more important stuff
I think 33% for a 20 $ MP-only expansion is quite a lot. Before release the lack of MP had also been justified by the fact of a lower price, 40 $ instead of 50 $. This is a 10 $ difference. But now we are (potentially) offered a 20 $ expansion. This is too much for many of us, for a feature many people had expected the game to have by now already (of course excluding the majority of the "true" GalCiv core fans who should be over-represented in these forums though) I would b
To me "fanboy" can also have a connotation of irrational loyalty. For example, being very quick to defend any flaw in this game, or to take offense at any comments critical of Stardock, would be behavior typical of a GC2 fanboy. VERY true. And there are quite a few in these forums. "The devs said" can also reveal a typical fanboy in
Who are you? Are you the devs little puppy? I think, you are the ubertroll! In every post you appear with your unpleasant superherostyle! Really really great! I love you, Pocahontas.
"but the whole thing is just lacking that final spit and polish that makes a professional product. Every time I encounter a problem I'm just left wondering, WTF didn't a beta tester spot this? Why wasn't this fixed?" Unfortunately, I have the same impression.
Second that 100%.
Mine is the same way. I can play for any number of hours as long as there is no autosave and I don't try to save. If I do try to save it is about a 50% chance of "out of memory" crash to desktop. What is worse the crash takes the save game spot with it. So if I save on an old save spot then that spot is gone also.... I have the same pr
same problem here, since latest beta. I think.
Same problem here, I'm pissed. Galciv was working fine at 1.0x until the update to 1.1 and now the game freezes whenever I try to save or restore. I need to alt-ctrl-del or power cycle to recover! I have the same problem. This annoying issue started with tha last beta of 1.1 for me... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAn
I have the same problem. Till Beta3 everything was fine. After that performance was lost and the game slowed down in general. Now I saw this "Out of Memory: GalCiv II will probably Crash now" when I tried to stop the game after 15 mintues of saving... very VERY annoying after lots of fun with the early betas of 1.1! To the devs: please have a look at it! PLEASE!
Super Bump. Could not play this weekend...
It is not only autosave, it is saving in general - I have found out now. There is at least one more player with the same problem (see other post: "saving trouble") The game run very stable with all the version before (2 CTDs in 50 hours is not too bad), so I would prefer not to update anything... I CANNOT use an official ATI driver (there are some cases according to FAQs on ATI homepage!) and the omega driver was very stable up to
Have noticed the same problem an posted it separately.

Why I am a bit disappointed about GalCiv2.... (criticism=wishlist for updates or expansion) All reviews praise the AI and the replayability. However, I have stopped playing now. It is too much appraisal in my opinion. Why? I have managed to understand the economic system and win easily on tough now. Well, I could chose higer difficulties or to change my playing style. But I don’t want to. I want to go for the conquest v
I had a CTD after a rebellion on one of my planets. I also wonder why my SDC shows Beta4, but in the game and debug file it is Beta3...!? I could not play on my notebook before because ATI had stopped to support my manufacturer some time ago. Then I used Omega drivers... now playing hours every day... Maybe you want to try that.
The loading time at the beginning ("hint screen") was about one minute with BetaV2 and thereafter the game was very fluid also in gigantic galaxies (except large battles/explosions) With BetaV3 I have an initial loading time of about 6 mintues and the game has slowed down significantly: little pauses for loading, some delays, less smooth ship movements on the main map,... - suddenly the cpu seems to work hard all the time! My debug file
YES. Definitely. On my notebook its loading endlessly at the beginning and it is a lot slower in the game, too. I cannot play huge galaxies anymore... I have already posted this in an other thread.
