RIAA = music industry MPAA = movie industry there's a big difference. also it should be noted that almost every single motion picture studio is taking part in a joint venture to stop piracy as a single organization. I don't recall the name right now though. :/

for those of you trying to keep up with what is going on: spyed has written a "response". it seems he has re-written the history of DA saying that he founded it with jark and matteo. Now for anyone who doesn't know, Deviantart.com was created by only two people, jark and matteo. his lengthy response also doesn't not answer any questions but puts the spotlight more on himself and others saying that they worked harder than jark in the art comm

for some reason I'm totally lost on all the icons people have mentioned in here, atlas for example or the utopia *surprise*, not to mention whatever "core" is.... I am so out of the loop it seems. I for one would gladly accept any icon you make though

I believe he meant it was a possible business opportunity before said companies try to take down torrent software programmers. I must admit he does have a point. Software companies could direct sell to custmoers much like stardock does, only with torrent files. You can encrypt a torrent file to only be allowed by one user if you do it right. The opportunity is there, no one makes use of it though.

I for one thinking that comparing an ongoing and pre-alpha version of an OS based on comments made TWO YEARS AGO are a little trivial. I mean, almost any software maker and especially game-maker out there makes comments about what they *want* in their next release and what they assume at the time to be in their next release. It's called looking forward. Because the computing world is an on-going and living environment, pe

I would say windowblinds or a suite. On the downside though is that a great suite could possibly have multiple members creating each different portion of it. So of course the prizes should be kept in mind in that decision. If it was up to me I would say Windowblinds only. I have to agree that while a DesktopX theme contest may sound good, there would be few entires for the most part compared to Windowsblinds or a Suite contest. Not everyone ca

I can see people complaining about the OS if it was a month away from release, but we have close to 18 months left to the final build. I see it like how voo or myself show previews in #stardock. Show a little bit of a preview (say at most 100x100 pixels) and save the full blown preview until it's near release or released. That's just my take on it. Apple doesn't show previews of the OS it's currently working on, and whether or not the

obviously few people have actually read anything about what is going on with the whole screenshot "debacle". MS claims, which makes perfect sense if you have any idea about the patent system, is that in the 5048 build there are parts of the OS they are still applying patents for. to cover their butt legally, they can't have anyone post screenshots that show off what they're working on. MS is a large corporation and the larger the company, usually, the

not bad for an article but memory really has no major effect on WinXP. Until about Dec. of last year I have run XP since it came out on my PII 450 with only 128 RAM. I could do this due to disabling alot of unneeded services and it ran perfectly. A gig of ram is more than most users need. And one other point, instead of writing another article about tweaking services, point users to this webpage (which is the best place on the net to figure ou

as anyone should know, there IS a history link on SDC. when you read it it says and I quote : ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows 2000/XP or later required. Enhance your common file dialogs with additional features, including most recently used folders, shortcuts, sorting options, custom sizing, text shortcuts, grid lines, and more! 0.80 ------ A rebo
