Stardock is missing!!!

Cache Clearing

I thought I'd clear/clean the cache out - keep widgets running good. When I got to the Applications Data Folder I was suprised to see that Stardock wasn't listed! I was sure to check on Show All Files from control panel. I've done this before. I looked at the Clearing the cache article to refresh my mind. Why wouldn't Stardock show up in App Data???? Preplexing to me.

Make sure you are looking in the following path: "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data".

There is also an Application Data folder at this path: "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data", which does not contain a Stardock folder (nor is it inside the Local Settings folder that contains the correct Application Data folder you would see the Stardock folder in).

Any of the Stardock programs that write to cache will rewrite both the Stardock folder and the program cache folder inside it when restarted, if the folder has been deleted - so no worries there.

If you do not see a Stardock folder in "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data" after starting DesktopX and loading a widget, then the setting for cache location may have somehow been changed.

To test for a global change in Stardock software, load other programs that write to cache (ObjectDock, SkinStudio, IconX, CursorXP) to see if they create the folders.

If so, then it is confined to DesktopX.

If none of them create a folder, then you have a global issue, and may want to do clean installs of programs.

Thanks Corky O. Stardock is found! The trick was Local Settings. All is well.
