Deleting Docklets

Hi,

I downloaded the e-mail checker docklet a while ago, but don't use it much (I don't like that I can't change the frequency with which it checks for new e-mails).

Am I supposed to somehow uninstall it, or is it enough that I dragged it off the dock, closed ObjectDock, went into C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock\Docklets and deleted the folder "E-mail Checker"? Is there anything else I should do or delete to remove all traces of the docklet?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you were not using the docklet in the theme you were running at the time of deletion, you are fine.

One other item of note:

If you have any themes that used that docklet, and were saved, you will want to delete those theme ".ini" files to prevent any errors.

Oops, not sure how that ending up being a double post!

Thanks Corky_O

I don't really use ObjectDock all that much, so I'm not familiar with which themes you mentioned. What are they exactly? I don't think I used or saved any.

If you did not use the "Save Theme as" button in the ObjectDock configuration panel, then no need to worry.

FYI - the term "Dock Theme" is referring to a created dock set-up which is then saved via "Right-click dock > Dock Settings > Save Theme as button". The current dock set-up is then saved as a ".ini" file in the "C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock\Themes" folder. This file is a text file with references to position and content of the dock, including all links (entries), icons images, and dock background used.

Saving a theme allows you to reload a theme any time using the "Dock Settings > Load Theme button".

Note - I referred to the method used in ObjectDock Plus for saving a theme above. For ObjectDock free version, you would use "Right-click dock > Dock Settings > Themes menu > Save Dock Theme As" command to save a theme, and "Right-click dock > Dock Settings > Themes menu > Load Dock Theme" command to load a saved theme.

also, for the future:  If you decide to remove a docklet or shorcut - just drag it off the dock, let go and watch it disappear in a fireball   (just make sure you don't dock dragging locked)

Bichur,

I removed the e-mail docklet from ObjectDock by dragging it off the dock like you said (love the fireball ) before I deleted it from my system. I just wanted to make sure that it was completely removed from my machine, not just the dock.

oops, missed the part where you said you dragged before going in and deleting the folder. i get bored and just create new blank shortcuts, just so I can drag them off.
