Do I Need SDMCP.exe?

This file keeps loading during startup. I don't have Stardock Central or Object Desktop. I tried one of those programs about a year ago then removed it. I only have Windowblinds 5, ObjectDock, and Icon Packager. Can I remove sdmcp.exe and if so what's the best way of doing it? Thanks in advance.

If you want systray support for stardock apps, you need it. Specifically, ObjectDock, ObjectBar, RightClick and DesktopX (I think).

If you don't need or use any of those, kill it.

How to kill it? I believe you can disable it from MSConfig | Startup but I am not sure. I've moved on to mcpcore.dll that replaced sdmcp.

I trust me, but you may want to wait for a better (more complete) answer.

Disable thru Stardock Central. Failing that, you should be able to kill it with task manager then make sure you delete the mcp* files and sdmcp.exe in c:\program files\common files\stardock

I don't think mcpcore.dll replaced sdmcp.exe... AFAIK, they're all required for tray support (I only have OD+ so it maybe because of that?).

Zubaz is right- all those apps require sdmcp to run the systray...I ran into a prob awhile back w/the systray not being supported, and that was the problem - no sdmcp...killing it on the fly doesn't seem to have any other effect
