Activation limit reached

Please assist

Hello all.

Firstly, I have a totally legitimate Object Desktop subscription, that I paid for last May. However, I only use:
WindowBlinds
IconPackager
SkinStudio
IconDeveloper
DesktopX

As it stands now, only WindowBlinds and IconPackager have require activation. My problem is this, I do reformat quite reguarly anyway, and during the past week or so I've had loads of BSOD's - which I initially believed to be caused by software problems, this caused me to reformat several times. I later found out it was a hardware problem and have since corrected it.

The problem now is, when I install Stardock Central, it will download and install both WindowBlinds and IconPackager, but they both fail the activation process. It tries to activate via SDC, and I receive a blank error dialogue box (with the yellow exclamation). I click OK to this (only option I have), and the products aren't activated. If I try to activate them by right clicking in SDC and choosing activate, I receive the following error:

There was an error activating the select product. Error: 0

The selected product has failed to activate, please try again.

If you continue to have problems, please include the above information when contacting support@stardock.com. Pleasedo NOT post your password on the web forums.

I have sent an email to support@stardock.com regarding this, but the automated response stated it could take upto 4 business days for me to get a reply.

I know some of the Stardock staff are active here, so I was just wondering whether it would be possible for me to get my activations reset.

I can honestly say, I've obided to the TOC of the products, haven't shared my serial, or installed on multiple computers, just on my machine - but lots of times -- and I'm also the only person who uses the product.

I'm not trying to get a quicker response from Stardock, just someone might be able to tell me whether or not it was possible, I don't fancy buying the products again -- after all, there was no activation when I bought the products back in May; had their been I may have thought twice knowing how often I reformat.

Thanks in advance.

don't give up yet, sometimes it depends on who's around to drop by (I don't count )

What Firewall are you using? Your title says Activation limit reached, but in your message that's not the error you're getting...which is it? If it's the limit, then you must go through Stardock support to reset it. If it's something else, it can be fixed here.

It's not that the connection is getting blocked - there's no firewall being used at the moment.

Object Desktop subscription, that I paid for last May

Your script should still be active, but your profile doesn't show it. Are you certain you're using the correct e-mail and password (the ones you used when you bought it). Send your e-mail to Stardock https://www.stardock.com/support.asp and see what comes back.

Yeah, I'm using the exact same information that I used when I purchased. This is the same info I've used everytime I've installed SDC right from when I first installed it.

What do you mean by my script should still be active? (Sorry I'm a n00b lol).

Cheers.

The Object Desktop subscription runs for a year. If you bought it in May of 2005, it's still good until May of 2006. Thus, you would be entitled to version 5.0. Perhaps you bought it in May of 2004?

Maybe if you used a firewall you wouldn't have so many problems and in turn do so much reformating. It is very bad for your computer to do that, especially all the time. I am surprised your hard drive hasn't quit on you already.

Nope.

I paid for an ObjectDesktop Subscription on 03/07/05 (just checked my invoice email), so my initial thought of May was 2 months wrong, but still it should be valid for another 6 months.

Everything else will reinstall fine except WindowBlinds and IconPacker, both of which require activation - I think it's just that I've activated them (from reinstalling) more times than the activation limit imposes.

Did email Stardock last night, haven't heard back as of yet - although it did say it could take 4 days.

Other than when a system crashes or a PC upgrade you shouldnt have to format/reinstall a OS more than once a year (once every 6 months if your pushing it) not that this address's your problem but I thought id point that out.

If you've actually hit the Activation limit, then hang tight. Either support will reset it or if you're lucky, you'll get a drive-by reset from a Stardock personage.

There was a problem with the activation scripts for an hour or so on Monday, which was giving the above error message. That said, I'm not seeing the ODNT registration under your email address above, so that could be part of the problem. If you email kwilas@stardock.com with the address you ordered under, I can reset the activation count if need be.

Citizen Schnitzel ...it's not uncommon for people to have a little brain-fade when it comes to 'what email did I use' and have this sort of thing happen.

If I had a dollar for each time an email addy was found to be the problem I'd have.....oooh....2 or 3 dollars....

Nakor will save you....
