This is not acceptable

I have been using the old version of Windowblinds for several years. I noticed version 5 was out so I installed it.

Now my PC freezes up at random times, won't let me log on, the start menu randomly freezes, my wallpaper turns to nothing every time I restart, and it takes much longer to boot up.

All of these problems are on a fresh install of Windows XP Home.

The version I have installed is v5.00 (build 49). It is the demo version. My PC meets all of the requirements.

Please post the troubleshooting text from the WB config panel. Let's see what can be done to help.

Sorry I forgot to post that information. I had seen it in other threads and I intended to post it. I have already uninstalled WB 5 and installed WB 4 and my problems are gone.

I see there are some issues with GeForce 6600 GT cards and WB 5. I have a 6600GT. I may try WB 5 again if there are some updates/patches released. I have the newest drivers installed and they increased performance in certain games to a point where rolling back to the 77's would not be worth it just for semi-transparent effects.

On a side note, why is there no search function on this forum? It would be very helpful. Maybe I'm just missing it?

My complete system specs:

CoolerMaster Centurion 2 Case
ASUS A7V333 Mother Board
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
768 MB PC2700 DDR Mushkin RAM
80 GB 7200 RPM Western Digital Hard Drive
6GB 5200 RPM Fujitsu Hard Drive (holds music library)
Leadtek GeForce 6600GT
NEC ND3520A 16x DVD-RW
Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM
Sound Blaster Audigy ES
Windows XP Home Edition
Cable Modem
Logitech Z-640 Speakers
Enlight 360 Watt Power Supply

There is a searchbox near the bottom of the left navigation bar. By default it searches Articles, but use the drop down menu and choose "Forums".

I think Someone123456 was using forums.stardock.com (no search) and not wincustomize.com forums (search).

WC is better.

Stoneblue, Someone has uninstalled WB5 so the point is moot.

I am using the Stardock forums. I did not know the Wincustomize forums were the same thing.

Anyway, I have uninstalled WB 5, I did so before I was asked to post the troubleshooting information.

By the way, my normal screen name is Hi Ho, not Someone123456. I was not planning to post when I joined this forum. I was just looking for a search function.

WC & Stardock are not exactly the same - a lot of the same posts flow over to each other - there are more categories to look at here at WC. And a limited search, but still a search.
