Windows classic theme problem

Another one.

Like the few other posts, I too have the problem that when I go to install a theme, it just sets it to the windows classic theme.

I am using the free version of WB 5.0.

I saw someone saying to try reverting to the ATI catalyst 5.11 drivers because the 5.13 drivers don't work. I previously had an older driver (didn't work eith that so I looked here). I downloaded the 5.13s, with no help, and then the 5.11 driver which I'm currently using, and it still doesn't work.

I've reinstalled it at least 4 times, and sent an email to support@stardock.com, and am still waiting for a reply. I've had this problem for about 4 days now, and I'm starting to get really annoyed. When the problem first occured, I hadn't changed a thing that day, so it just happened randomly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When installing the ATI Catalyst, do you have the Control Panel installed also? This seems to cause problems. I have read that some have had better luck without the Control Panel. Hope this helps.

I downloaded it WITH the control panel, but the control panel does not work, and I get an error when I try opening it.

This is why I suggest NOT downloading the Control Panel. It no likey the WB5. You can make all those setting changes that Control Panel does from the Display Properties.

Try uninstalling ATI Catalyst, reinstall and uncheck Control Panel when prompted.

Well, I just deleted the catalyst control panel, and reinstalled 5.13, without the control panel. Unlucky me however, still has the problem, and can't seem to get any theme apart from the windows classic theme.

I'm the one that had good luck going from the 5.13 drivers back to the 5.11 drivers. I have the Catalyst Control Panel installed and I can/could access from both sets of drivers. WB5 would not load anything other than the classic skin however until I went to the 5.11 drivers. Just FYI. I am using a AIW9600 btw, WinXP Pro, AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1.5GB ram on a Gigabyte MB & Nvidia Force3 chipset.

The only change I made was re-installing the 5.11 drivers on top of the 5.13 ones, rebooted and WB5 worked just fine.
