Maximum Activation Reached

reinstalling WB5 several times after restore system images

Test a lot of programs on my system and use backup imaging programs quite a bit so I can restore back to a point for a working system. Now, have reinstalled WB5 several times on the same laptop but get the Maximum Activation message now. What can I do? I sent a message to support but this is annoying to say the least. However, I do respect the rights of developers to protect their software they have created. Thanks for any help.

I think that means you have to pay for it now.

I have paid for it and have a serial number in connection with my email address.

Then you need to go through Stardock Central and register it with your serial number and email address, cos according to your status it is not paid for.

Gary,

Someone at Stardock will need to reset your account.

I had the same issue while testing the software.

There may or may not be anyone checking e-mails during the weekend, or dropping by the forum board, who would be able to reset your account for you - so you may have to wait until next week.

Depending on when you purchased WindowBlinds or Object Desktop, you may be able to install WB 4.6 during the wait. Many of the skins designed for that version are great - they just lack the transparency on the frames and menus (although, some do have transparency in the Start Menu, which is supported in 4.6).

As a side note - Icon Packager now uses the "Activation" as well, so be aware of this if you are running that program also, and plan on uninstalling/reinstalling frequently.

clwoods: The status of a user when posting from forums.stardock.com tends to show up oddly.

I have reset your activation count.

If you are going to be reinstalling things every other day, then I strongly suggest you make a copy of sig.bin in your WB directory so you can copy it in after reinstalling WB each time.

Neil, I had clicked on his name and it showed him as a access level 1 and user level (unknown) 1.

Thank you for resetting activation. I am just back home and I appreciate it and all the help. I will try not to do so much testing now and I will follow your advice if I that changes. Thank you.

yeah, it's just sad that some people want to deal with a company honestly and in an adult manner.
