WB5 Causing XP Media centre PC not to boot ??

Anyone seen this problem?

Just installed Full version of WB5. I've got an XP Media Centre PC (For testing not by choice). I'll be using it for a few weeks and it just doesn't like WB.

After installing WB I reboot (As requested) and the PC then does not boot. I need to go into safe mode and uninstall WB to get back to a workable condition.

Any ideas? Experience? Is this a known issue?

Thanks.

What happens if you remove wbsys.dll (in the system32 directory) and then reboot?

I shall try this right now.

Gotta just install again and give it a go.

I'm having the same problem. My hardrive crashed so I purchased a new hardrive and I was talked into getting MediaCenter. I never had a problem with Windowblinds 5 until now. Is MediaCenter and Windowblinds uncompatible? I'm about to reinstall everything just for Windowblinds because I love it so much.

(Please tell me there's a way around it though)

Run WB4.6... no more problems.  WB5 seems to be the BomDiggiddi.

Installed WB5 on a new Fujitsu notebook with XP MCE just last week without any problems at all. No suggestions here, I'm afraid. Sorry you're having problems.

I use MCE myself with WB just fine.

The problem in #3 is WBs gamma controls have been set to the lowest possible option.

If Neil had not pointed out the gamma then I would have said that looked really messed up!

Try applying a skin.

I saw a similar post and this was what I could come up with. I never got an answer from the poster whether it worked for them or not, looks like there might not be an answer here either.

+1 to WB5 locking up on my XP MCE

It was working fine until I networked my XBox 360 to it. Now I can't change my blinds without rebooting.

I guess I'll try out an older version on WB

*side note: this is a fully registered / purchased version of WB5*

smccaffe: Have you also been using an XBOX360 with your PC?

XBOX & WMCE don't like each other. (?)

No I don't have a 360.

Wouldn't mind one however.

XBOX & WMCE get along just fine. It's only WB that's having the problems. I noticed the problem after networking the 360 and computer, so I was hoping there might have been some sort connection between the two.

WB really doesn't act up until I try and switch the blinds around. So looks like I'll stay with the one I got

Tried switching with connection to Xbox disabled?

Yup. I did a system restore to a point before I added the XBox to my network. Unfortunately, there was no connection between the two

I just decided to remove WB from my computer all together

Guess I'll just wait for a newer version...

Your issue with WB saying it cannot load the bitmaps is caused by a mismatch between wblind.dll & wbsrv.dll.

When you install WB5, what are the dates on those files?

WB version 5.00[b].011
Date 1/19/06

Just installed it... If I continue to have problems I'll post again.

Thank you to all that replied!
