Beta 4D: galactic wonders

Begin building a galactic wonder on a planet square.
Then change your opinion and delete that built (use the x at the top of the building list) to free up the space on that planet : the galactic wonder is gone forever.
- no planet can now build it
- if you save your game an reload, this problem remains

In complement, it seems odd that Trade Goods should take one space on a planet. The same can be said about wonders, which are costly and risky to build (some other civ may get them before you do) and should probably not incur a planet space loss ; why not build wonders/trade goods on "free" space ?

because they're not buildable

This answer is not clear: If they're not buildable, how is it I could begin to build them and they were put into the built queue ?

It makes sense to take up a planet tile for things like trade goods. Where else are you going to manufacture them?

I'd agree, mavx21, that's the best representation I can think of, except for one annoying difference between GC1/GC2 and Civ3. In Civ3, when you traded a trade good, it was for a fixed number of turns. In GC, it's forever. So either they're making their own without needing a tile to do it, or I'm still making them and giving them to them, even if we're at war. I'd be a lot less stingy with my trade goods if the recipient stopped getting the benefit of them if they declared war against me.

Definitely not saying that it has to change, I just can't find a rational that i'm perfectly OK with.

Trade Goods is something of a misnomer anyways... they are all really Galactic Wonders it is simply a matter of being able to use them in the diplomacy screen... Does *anyone* ever actually trade these things away? If so... Why?

Absolutely, though I'm careful of what ones I do give. Better than trading techs, because they can't pass them on further and consider them more valuable. It's much easer to get military techs if you sweeten the pot with a trade good.

Every once in a while, when a race, major or minor, is about to go out, I'll offer all my trade goods for all its techs that I don't have, and almost always get them.

They're also nice for propping up the underdog in wars that you either want the underdog to win, or you don't want the underdog to die too quickly.

Did so with great gusto on GC1. The biggest reason was for the cash or techs you can get from other races. The minor races on GC1 were particularly eager to get them.
