New and Old Bugs

Just two:

New: Sometimes after movement I cannot select another portion of the galaxy to view. It goes there, but it snaps right back. Pretty rare.

Old: The inaccessible lower right hand corner bug is still there. I have seen it quite early in games this time. That is, targeting the space down and to the right from a star system is the same as targeting the system itself, even if an anomaly is sitting there, which means that it is inaccessible.

Something I seem to have noticed after a couple of games is that the smaller the galaxy, the more the bugs. Keep in mind that this is a totally anecdotal observation.

I will note that the game is significantly less playable the smaller the galaxy. This may just be my style of play or something (I am still too chicken to go beyond average opponents while there are no "nsmed" saved games), but in medium to tiny galaxies, the human player is doomed--it seems to be impossible to keep morale up.

Just FYI.

Hmm, I haven't had any problems keeping morale up in tiny galaxies. I find tiny galaxies too easy with large ones very difficult.

Ah, but you know how the game is supposed to work! :) I am just bumbling along figuring it out.

I'm not worried about it--someday you guys will have time to write strategy guides. But I know I had a pretty good start in a large galaxy before I decided to go ahead and download the multimedia stuff. I then had a bad game in a medium galaxy, a couple of worse games in a small galaxy (low morale, revolution!) and I am currently on my way to a cultural win in a large galaxy!

By the way, the influence and resources stuff allows for some real strategy finally besides piling up the weapons. I just hope that the AI continues to become less bloodthirsty over time--in addition to the strategy, you've still got to pile up those weapons and that remains primarily what the game is about except when you're way ahead.

On the other hand, my inclination is to keep an interesting game going as long as possible which may not be exactly what you guys are shooting for here (though I hear echoes of that when people ask for a way to reject a win and keep going).

Ok, apparently I never tested this with a defended star before. It's that shield icon. ::sigh::

I've had a weird bug in the games I have been playing. I just bought the game over the weekend, and in almost every game I've played so far, someone will get attacked (usually the Torians) and then send me a message saying that I must join in battle with them or end our alliance.

The problem is that I've never signed an alliance with them! I don't think I even _talked_ to them before they sent me this message in a couple games, which makes it very frustrating for me to figure this out. The only thing I can think of is that I might have been of a similar alignment to them, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have the "good" interface, so I'm confused....

Admiral C--don't feel bad: I just spent a couple of hours today fixing something I broke by fixing something else--and of course the client spotted the problem before I did.

Citizen N--Brad pointed out in another thread that this was a bug. I don't know its status in Beta 3A.
With me it's been the Drengins starting wars and pulling me in. For now, just saying no has no bad consequences.
