SD Central is killing my PC

I downloaded and installed SD Central, checked for updates then rebooted (several times).  The desktop just freezes up, the cursor remains as an hourglass over the taskbar and I can't access the Start menu or the tray icons.  It remains like this for about fifteen minutes, then everything works as normal.

I tried uninstalling SD Central, deleting the folder and removing all registry entries.  I re-installed, checked for updates then rebooted - same problem again.  I've tried this 5 times now, always the same results.

This is just the SD Central install - I haven't event got as far as installing WB or any other apps.

I checked the Event Log but nothing appears out of the ordinary.  Task Manager shows 0 to 2 persent CPU usage, the usual when the machine is idle, and there is no disk activity.

I'm running XP Home SP2.

Anyone got any ideas?

Try running silent runners and post your logfile on a site and link to it here.

Have you experienced this issue with your system freezing when Stardock Central is not installed? Are you hearing any clicking sounds coming from your computer?

What version of Windows (including service packs) are you running?

In SDC settings, un-check: Enable MCP Startup and Enable MCP Notification Area

The system starts fine without SD Central.  I tried yrag's suggestion of unchecking MCp Startup and Enable MCP Notiication Area, and now everything appears to be OK.  Thanks for your help.
