What build am I running?

I installed Beta 4 on Thursday, 11/3, and noticed several bugs. I reported that survey ships (flagships actually) do not upgrade their weapons and defense abilities after researching anomalies that grant these upgrades. I also noticed several other bugs that others reporte: bug in elections, I was penalized when Technologists won although I chose to play as Technologist, (funny thing, besides being informed that my party lost, I was penalized with +20 research and +1 sensors), some upgrades (factories, labs) got stuck with 0 weeks left for number of turns etc. And I experienced quite bit of crashes. One thing I didn’t notice was large number of zero-quality planets. When I became aware that Beta 4b (v. 0.76) is available I upgraded or I thought I upgraded my v. 0.75 using Chicago site. Since then I didn’t notice any improvements (flagships still do not upgrade their weapons and defense capabilities, upgrades occasionally get stuck at 0 weeks left, if I remember well, I ‘lost’ one more election and I experienced a lot of crashes. What I did notice was that now there are stars with colors different than yellow and I noticed a lot of zero-quality planets, even around yellow stars (btw, do the star colors have the same meaning as in GalCiv1?). Actually, zero-quality planets were the most frequent although I had set habitable planets as abundant. Then I read complaints about zero-quality planets and response (to the complaints) that in the v. 0.76 build zero-quality planets are gone. So I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it again (two days ago), first using Chicago site but without any improvements. Then I followed somebody’s (avataral) advice and tried California site. With only difference being that I needed twice as long to download (somewhat deserved I guess, I live in Chicago). Also, when I minimize GalCiv window tag on the window reads ‘GalCiv2 v 0.75 Beta4’. All in all I’d say I’m doing something wrong. Could anybody tell me what? And, yes, I run the game on Windows XP professional machine, and game is set on gigantic map, abundant habitable planets, planets and stars and tight clusters. And my GalaxyWnd.dxpack file is the right size.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. If Stardock Central says that your GC2 is at 0.76[b].003 then you're running the same level as the rest of us who are reporting we're on Beta4a. Elimination of class 1 to 4 planets and one fix for Senate elections were, I believe, the only changes between Beta4 and 4a.

Ah, silly me. So 1-4 quality planets are gone but not zero-quality. OK. Does this mean that all planets that previously were 1-4 are 0 quality now? And, thank you.
Also, I just noticed something interesting. By mistake I sent my flagship to one of my planets where I didn’t have built a starport yet. Although a shield appeared I was not able to launch my flagship (obviously because I didn’t have starport) back to space. Is this intended?

Yes, I think the change to drop planet qualities 1-4 was a quick work around to an AI problem that was causing the AI to colonize them. There are a lot more class 0 planets now.

The problem with not being able to launch your flagship from orbit is a new one on me. You might want to report it on the thread labelled "Beta 4: BUG REPORTS HERE".

Thanks again. And I was wrong about ship captured in orbit. I recreated situation and was able to launch it from the 'ships in orbit' window.
