Planet Quality ability so overpriced that it is useless!

What is the result of a 7% improvement of a class 20 planet? Thats right... 1 more square.

For 80% of your starting points? One square? even more ridiculous is that the increase is the same with the lower ability of 5% for 3 points? You pay more than double for a 2% difference? This should either be fixed or simply removed.

The custom race stuff hasn't been balanced yet... as you can see right now it's pretty much exactly copied for GC1.

It takes considerable amount to increase the planet quality enough to gain tiles. In cheat mode I've been able to get 100% of the tiles only with a initial Planet Quality of 500% (which is alot of clicking to do in cheat mode). Even with 120% inital Planet Quality bonus only gives you about 20 tiles.

7% means that a PQ 14 turns into PQ15, IIRC. As the average PQ of good worlds is 10 now, it's a useless ability. If the retail baseline of the game is going to be PQ 10 = Earth/Good World, then it needs to be 10% for a decent amount of your available customization points (yielding 1 extra tile per Earth quality), and 20% for the lion's share of your customization points (yielding 1 extra tile on a PQ 5 world, and 2 extra tiles on an Earth).

Of course, if the base line for retail goes up in size, that percentage bonus should obviously change.

Even if the base planets were 14 or 15 it is still outrageously overpriced.

In GC1, it was worth it. Although I prefered the top being +10%.

What I don't like is that it will increase the quality of another plannet but not affect the number of tiles. Have even tried exagerating this with the custom civ bug and ended up with a quality 115 planet with 14 tiles. Only affects your home planet when it comes to tiles.

Hmmm...How about dropping the PQ increase ability as it stands now and replace it with the ability to have the yellow (and maybe red tiles using more ability points) be automaticly upgraded to green and thus usable as soon as you colonize?

That's some tech bennie. Or does the tile techs no longer do anything for you then?

Well the PQ increase ability has to increase the number of usable tiles on colonized planets somehow or , as it has been already stated, PQ ability really is useless beyond your homeworld. An alternate idea would be to have a hidden class of tiles that normally is unsusable to any race unless they have the PQ ability. That way you could land on a PQ4 world and have a random chance of the special tile type appearing and thus could potentially have a PQ5 world right away in addition to the normal terraformable tiles that every race can use eventually with the right techs. The only exception would be your home world which would automaticly get the extra tile(s).
