Why are the icons I make with Icon Developer invisible?

I am trying to turn an image into an icon but they all turn out invisible when I save them.

what kind of image?

2 days ago I played with an image in PSP and my saved jpeg was invisible (I resaved as a png and all was well) & I had some icos in a dll show while browsing with icondeveloper but come up invisible when selected to load & some files that just said ico are there when browing but come up invisible.

weird. or maybe it's some kinda copyright protection.

I tried bitmap and jpg, will try png next.
