Any real help for widget development?

i had just stumbled upon the world of these widget things recently and i instantly found hundreds of uses for DesktopX Widgets, but i couldn't find a real set of tutorials and/or guides/definitions for what these widgets are really capable of.

Two questions:
1) I want to create a widget that monitors the sound output of my computer...more specifically in an Analog VU Meter format. Anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

2) Is there a collection of script definitions out there that I can use which will more or less give me a good idea of what widgets are capable of, program-wise?

thanks for the help.

A good page of links to the documentation: https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopxenterprise/resources.asp

It is hard to put any limitations on what DX can do. Because if you can't do it with the basic functions, chances are you can make it happen with scripts. And if not that you can (I guess, never done it yet) write your own plug in in C or VB. In my experience the power of scripting comes from using the Windows Scripting Host and ActiveX controls in combination with the DX namespace.

In my opinion the currently available widgets do not demonstrate fully the power of DX. I hope you'll keep exploring and have some neat stuff to show us soon!
