window z ordering

I am trying to understand what window z-ordering is and it has a check mark for mouse activation for it, thanks for any help.

The z-ordering is for specifying how the window will act when others are activated.

An "Always on top" window will always remain completely visible unless another "Always on top" window is activated and partially covers it. Similarly, a window with the "Normal Level" will always remain below "Always on top" windows whether active or not, and always above "Desktop Level" windows.

I do not follow. Where are you seeing this? (screenshot would help)

I think dtdave is referring to if you use the drop down you can choose normal z-ordering. if that is chosen then the option for mouse activation appears. if you check that then the delay option appears.

Thank you, Sir Bichur.

dtdave: If you choose "Normal Window Z-Ordering" or "Always on Bottom" the "Use Mouse Activation" option will become available.

With this feature, you can have the dock activate (come to the front) just by hovering your mouse over it. The slider will let you choose how long the mouse must hover over the Dock before it is brought forward.
