Metaverse question

Okay this is probably a really simply/silly question, but I've managed to confuse and frustrate the heck out of myself, so I'll ask it anyway. How do the names work when submitting games to the Metaverse? Does it use the "Register your Player" name from the Metaverse reg screen or the "Alias" from the submit screen when you complete a game?

The reason I'm so confused is that I submitted my first game months ago under my "alias" and it never showed up. Then a couple days ago I submitted a new game under the same name. Still no show. So I went back to the meta reg page and registered again under my real name, and then resubmitted the last game again. Still nothing. So in frustration I reregistered and resubmitted in various combinations of names. Both my games miraculously showed up today! However, they show up in the search under my real name (Rex Burroughs), but in the player info listing it shows my alias (Xerxes the Great) as the player name.

I need to know what combination of names to use to continue having my games submit to this acct. I'm not sure when, exactly, the games did submit correctly. Therefore I'm not sure which combo did the trick. Could someone please explain the correct process to me, so I don't goof things up so badly next time?!

Thanks in advance,
Rex

Rex,

Submit using your Player Name, "Xerxes the Great," and whatever email address you used to register the game. Remember to include the spaces. I'm not sure if this screen is case-sensitive, so it's best to play it safe. This should work, as I've changed my nickname and still am able to submit under my player name.

The nickname is just your "public" name and is linked to your profile, not to your scores.

Thanks Obi Wan,

So is what you're saying that the "Alias" from the post-game submit screen and the "Player Name" from the Metaverse registration screen are/need to be the same? If so that clears up a lot.

You don't by any chance know how to access a galciv.com acct in order to update a profile? I can't seem to find a link to do that.

Thanks again for the help!

Rex,

Yep, "alias" and "Player Name" appear to be one and the same.

The nickname is just that, a nickname; it can be changed without affecting your history or submissions.

"Name" is your real name, or at least the one that you used when you registered the game. I wouldn't recommend fiddling with this.

You can change your info at:

http://www.wincustomize.com

Choose "Edit Account" from the horizontal menu bar at the top of the page.

Happy to help!

Xerxes,

Have fun storming the galaxy!

I also noticed that you're still unaligned - you haven't yet joined an empire. As you get a few games under your belt, you might want to cruise around the Forums and the Empires page on the Metaverse to take a look at them. They're a great way to have questions answered, swap strategies and mods, or just to have fun. Just be sure to keep an eye peeled for those with active members.
