Multiple Monitors?

Will GC2 support multiple monitors? I just ordered a second LCD to better work with massively wide GANTT charts. It would be nice to see the GC universe in 2560x1024 as well!

Does anyone else have a dual-head setup?

As one of stardocks products is 'multiplicity' for dual monitor systems, I imagine GC2 will work with 2 monitors.

Multiplicity is actually for multiple computers, each with at least one monitor.

I'm not sure how GC2 will work with multiple monitors. Use GCConfig and see what is the maximum resolution you can start GC2 in.

Thank you for that.I did not know about GCConfig.
It worked! All the screens look good. You even get a double width parallelogram in the mini-map.

Two observations:

1. You can't drag the non-full screen dialog boxes around (domestic policy, foreign policy, the news). I suspect these are not "real" windows. Making these movable or "anchoring" them relative to a corner, instead of dead center would improve readability (due to the monitor frame between the two panels) (I know that probably very few people are using dual monitor setups, and this is probably not worth your time to do anything.)

2. It is really nice to see that much more of the tech tree at once (and the star map of course!).

1) You're right. There's actually only 1 true Windows window in the whole game, the one that the game runs in.  The rest of the "windows" are actually just data structures that contain the information about where to paint them, how big they are, etc. That description is a big simplified, but most people's eyes start glazing over when I get technical.    I haven't had time to make windows draggable, and the code that resizes the windows when you hit the minimize button on the starmap or the research screen is more or less hardcoded.  Someday when I have time, I would like to make it so that you can move the dialogs style screens around.

Aside from the topic, how can I get some improvements put into Multiplicity? For certain scenerios instead of dual desktop I would prefer mouse/keyboard ghosting by the second machine.... Yes I will use it to cheat in games, but that's none of your concern. Can there be something coded so I can do this? And who do I press for this and my otehr brilliant suggestions!

Stay away from any MMO I play you.

@CariElf - I used to do development work. I still have the curiosity to try and figure out what's "under the hood" of various apps...

Astax, by ghosting do you mean have the mouse and keyboard send the message to both computers, so that the mouse cursors move simutaneously, etc?  That's almost a completely different program.  Although, you might want to come up with other practical applications of that feature if you want to try to talk the Multiplicity developers into putting that in.
