Recycle Bin Freezing

Frustrating, can't figure it out!

Hi all, I love object dock but very often right clicking on OD recycle bin freezes OD, then a reboot is needed to get it to work again. Something goes amiss - left clicking sometimes shows this error - Could not make communication link with Norton UnErase Protection Service. The service appears to be running however. I've tried deleting the object and creating a new one several times, but no dice. The only fix for this is to reboot and start again. Anyone else ever see this? All other functions of OD work great!!! jigs

What is the normal recycle bin on the desktop set to show when clicked - Standard recycle bin, All protected files, or UnErase wizard?

You might try selecting and applying Standard recycle bin (right-click the desktop recycle bin > Properties > Recycle Bin tab).

All functions will still work via the Norton program dialog, so no need to worry on that part.

Thanks Corky, but I must have removed the "normal" bin a long time ago after installing object dock. I have no idea on how to get the original one back (all-hinee-smeers) . What to do?

You can just right-click the dock Recycle Bin and select Properties (not Dock Entry Properties..).

Note - if all desktop icons are not showing, you can right-click the desktop > Arrange Icons By > select the "Show Desktop Icons" option. The recycle bin will show unless you have actually deleted it.

Post again, if you seem to have deleted the original, and someone can point you in the right direction to attempt a restore of the original recycle bin.

thanks for your extremely fine help. it's a tough bug to diagnose, as it seems to be intermittent. working fine now after a reboot. i like being able to use the dock icon to 1) delete the recycle bin and 2) to delete the protected files. I just wish I could do this with one click! see ya!
