Icons

Help

Ok so I've downloaded some new icons, however all my folders are still the original yellow. I can change these by right clicking on a folder selecting properties and finding the correct icon to change them, however that's time consuming and pointless as when I create a new folder that is also the original yellow. Any help to advise what I am doing wrong? What do I need to change in Icon Packager 3.0?

Thanks in advance

Ok so I've downloaded some new icons

Are you referring to an IconPackage, or miscellaneous icons?

If they are Icon Packages, I would suggest the following steps:

1 - Start Icon Packager > use Tools\Restore all Icons > click Yes to verify > click OK to apply

2 - Repeat step #1 for both the Rebuild Icon Cache, and Repair Icon Images options under the same Tools menu

3 - Reboot machine

4 - Double-click the Icon Package downloaded file to install and invoke Icon Packager > Apply the new package > verify complete application of package.

If you are instead, referring to miscellaneous icons, you can use the View\Package Builder to assemble the new package > save the package with a new name > navigate to the location you saved it to > double-click the new package to install and apply.

Note - these steps all assume you are running either the enhanced version of IconPackager, or the free version inside the 30 day limit.

I hope this helps.

Hi, sorry I meant using Icon Packages taken from this site. I have done all you said. However again I still have yellow folders. Only those that I choose to change have changed the rest have not changed. Icons like IE Email, my docs etc have changed. But custom files i.e. any new folder I create remains yellow.

You might try:

Open My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab > click the Restore Defaults below the Advanced Settings list > click Apply.

It may be that you have "Launch folder windows in a seperate process" selected, or some other setting that is creating the issue.

Note - this assumes that you are running the current Icon Packager version 3, and that you did not install the registered version over the shareware version.

If you are running the current version, you might try installing Mormegil's Icon-A-Day package to test. I know this one works correctly with version 3, and would help eliminate a package issue https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=1340&LibID=2

Tried that as well. Changed nothing. I did a reinstall of icon packager 3 and applied the package, which is the package you sent me above and again it didn't work. However the folders that I went through and manually changed last time, this time they have the changed icons, yet new folders and others that I didn't do manually remain yellow :\

Open IP config and under 'Include' on right side, make sure all are checked, except Cursors (unless you use that). Apply. Load the package. Apply.

Try toggling the folders check mark, see if that wakes it up. When you open IP config/ Icons and Cursors, what does it show under folders? Yellow or the package icons? You are running the Explorer shell and nothing else (Power Desk, Commander and such), correct?

Yes it shows the package icons not the yellow ones this is what I don't understand.
