Window Blinds stopped Skinning my taskbar and recieve error on WBconfig

I have recently began using this application (Window Blinds). It has worked out standing until now. i am not sure why this sudden change has occured. I get an error wbconfig and it will stop skinning my taskbar. I can unload window blinds and reload it and it works fine as long as I do not shutdown or restart. After restart is when this error occurs and the skinning of my taskbar stops. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you registered it? Or are you using the shareware version. If the latter, it may be past the trial time.

It is a registered copy. I had just had a malicious software removal tool update from microsoft around the time it stopped working. I changed my startup and recovery settings and still get this. Seems to always give error for the wbconfig.exe file. It looks to me an addressing error in the memory.

Sounds like you have something corrupted in WindowBlinds file system.

I would probably go with the old - Unload WindowBlinds > restore Windows to the default theme > save any skin files to temp directory > uninstall WindowBlinds > reboot > delete any WindowBlinds folder left in "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop" folder > reinstall WindowBlinds.

Note - you may or may not have the Object Desktop in the address above, if not it will be "C:\Program Files\Stardock" instead.

If you don't want to go with the uninstall bit, you can try creating a shortcut to the "wbload.exe" file in your startup menu, though this may not actually address the real issue, and just provide a work-around.

I am getting this same exact thing. Would be nice to know what became of TravisK's problem.

Having tried an enormous number of various things, even asking/searching in the forums, but nothing has come of it.

Still perplexed by this problem and just coming short of wiping Wimdows 8 64 and going back to Win ME.

Oh well, so far I am able to unload Windowblinds 8.0 and reload the desired skin after reboot.

This is an ancient thread, so it's unlikely you'll get much help here.

Might I suggest you write to support@stardock.com ?

Keep the "autoreply" as it has your ticket number. Don't answer it. Doing that will only kick your request for help to the end of the queue.

Include the info from the "About" tab in your Config window, and any screen shots you think illustrate the problem.

Only answer AFTER hearing from an actual support person.
