Making this work

Loaded DesktopX 3 and really like it. Loaded several widgets and new themes from the Web.

Read development instructions and tried to modify themes (mostly to either change or add programs on my PC) and ran into a brick wall. Have spent several hours daily for several days and gotten nowhere. Well, did get a tiny text item on a new desktop and then couldn't touch it with a stick. I can now set targets over old text (usually) but can not seem to get them saved. Being an old man I could spend a large portion of my remaining days trying to accomplish a few simple tasks which are:

All I want to do on downloaded themes is to:

1. Rename some existing program texts to mine: i.e., safeclean to CCleaner.

2. Add the text names and shortcuts for my programs ( games, protection utilities, etc., i.e. Snood, Zone Alarm etc.).

3. Save the above so I don't have to do it again every time I reload that particular theme. I do select save when asked but that doesn't seem to get it.

I know nobody here has the time to lead me by the nose thru this, but any hints or any locations of relatively simple instructions would help. I've searched the forums and read the DextopX Development Intro but can't get this dumb brain to make what I've read work yet.

Many thanks

1. In most cases, right click on the object/item you want to change. That brings up the properties menu for that item. You can change the file path and text in those options. Some themes have images for text and those need to be changed manually.

2. Look under labels in the same properties menu .

3. When desktop builder is open. Right click on the tray icon and save as...rename the theme.

It has been awhile since I messed with it but I am pretty sure the info I gave is correct.

Night Train. Thx for generous and fast response. May have found the save thing before I saw your response-- although I didn't rename. We'll see if it works.

As usual - will sweat blood and tears over your other suggestions. You were kind and I am dogged so maybe progress will be made.

Best wishes,
