Beta 3a - illogical behaviour with "default ship designs"

Well something "fishy" there.

The problem that you can't upgrade the "default" ship designs , especially the problem "visible" with scouts , colonization ships and transports.

Let's say I developed new engines and want to upgrade - system does not let me to save

The bigger problem is (if we leave aside that I can't change/save standard design) that because this default/standard ship types sometimes is "more advanced" then technologies I have , for example I don't have medium hull type so I can't create "paralel" design with new engines.

I think we have 2 problems here - one logical , I believe it should be resolved in MoO1 style by allowing the race to have ONLY she ships it has technologies for, so basicly we should start with no sips.
But if we start as in MoO in "later age" then we will have more tech to start with and this means if we have colony ships we (and all AI oponents) should have all the technologies requered to build colony ships.

The other problem I believe is leftover of GalCiv1 engine, I think ship types saveing aproach should be changed to allow the "standard types" names to be used/saved this means standard types should act not as ship types but as templates to create such.

eh? Aren't they all coming out on a cargo-ship style frame for which everyone starts off with? I don't see a huge logical problem to having a hauler class which is one size beyond your tech but has significant penalities..

your survey ship has the ability to use anomolies but u don't start with the tech to build a new type of survey ship

no sensor tech to allow usage.. the game should start you off with some basic sensors and weapons that come standard they are horrible mods though but it keeps ya alive anyways this base techs come standard depending on a possible "age" of conquest you pick the times are randomised depending on the settings you picked and the way the game plays is that so your fav civ may have died by then..

i didn't have any problems adding engines to the constructors up to speed 7. added some engines to make the colony ships speed 3 and they were ok, but when i took them up to speed 6 everything looked hunkydory except they would not colonize planets, just sit there next to them.

You have to save the upgraded ship designs under another name if they're one of the core ship designs.
