when brought up from minimize window sometimes very small

sometimes when i bring up a window from minimize the window turns very small.

Is it usually the same program that does it or do different programs have the problem. DOes it usually occur after a screensaver has run or some other program that might change the resolution?

it happens with any program/window. it occurs at any time. it only happens after several times of minimizing/maximizing the window. the first 3-5 times it'll minimize and maximize fine with that cool distort feature then one time it'll maximize and the window will shrink very small and i'll have to expand it manually.
