Missing startup files.

I downloaded Beta 3 into a brand new clean directory (that is, I renamed the directory I had the Beta 2 in and allowed the DGM to create a new GalCiv directory). So far I have found at least two files missing, or that, for some reason, when I attempted to start GalCiv it thought these files were needed before it could even get started.

Binkw32.dll
SdNetlib.dll

I found copies of these files in the Beta 2 directory and tried copying them to the new Galciv directory and tried again, and got a crash and an SE report:

Admittedly, I had problems with the download (didn't everyone?). Since I won't be getting an answer until tomorrow when Cari comes to work, I guess I will try for a new download.

That's odd. I can't imagine why they'd be missing.

They're both there in the source directory.

Well, they are missing in my directory so they must have not been downloaded to my PC, perhaps because of the extreme load on the server. I received several SDS004 messages trying to download the game, and I did close the DGM in the middle of downloading the multimedia to switch my download to the faster server. I think there is something to be conserned about here, but I am not sure what I can do to help pinpoint the problem.

Cari spent the weekend recovering from the sleep deficit she built up last week, but she is thinking that she should still start going to bed earlier...

:)

Hmm...yeah, it does look like a download problem...that crash appears to be when it first checks for the sdnetlib.dll.
Have you been able to get it to download correctly yet?

Cari,
I spent 12 hours yesterday downloading GC and its multimedia into a brand new clean directory. Then all the time I had before going to bed was to bring up the startup screen, which worked. I am going to start testing today.

I think there is a serious issue with the DGM. It does not seem to be able to determine whether the download is successful or not, or at least it doesn't give any indication of failure when it finishes the install. I am running DGM with the debug option, but it indicated that the install was successful (turned on the "play" button and "uninstall" buttons, etc.), so, just like every new purchaser will on the final release, I assumed it had installed correctly and did not bother checking the debug.err file (which is now gone).
