Objectdock + firefox

thumbnails?

How come that i dont get a thumbnail preview on Firefox when minimized in the dock like i get with Internet Explorer?

Is there a fix, or is it a bug, or isnt ObjectDock simply not compatible with Firefox.

I get thumbnails on everything else.

Thanks.

Actually its not just FireFox. It has to do with which method you used to minimize the program. If you minimize from the window button or if you click on the icon in the taskbar dock or if you right click in the taskbar and chose minimize from the context menu. Try it with some other programs and you'll see what I mean.

I use ObjectDock free version. For FF if minimize from window buttons no thumbnail, if minimize from dock by click icon it shows thumbnail of the page, right click dock icon and select minimize no thumbnail.

Is there a way to get the thumbnails NOT to show up? I hate them, I just want the full icon all the time, whether minimized or not.

I have unchecked the box under Advanced "Use thumbnails to represent images in dock" but it has no effect. Anyone know why?

ObjectDock Properties > Appearance Tweaks > Other Tweaks > uu-tick "Represent minimized windows by their screenshot"

Thanks Koasati! I'm running all tabbed docks so I never saw that option for untabbed ones.

Okey, when i click the dock icon i get the thumb for firefox, but, in Internet Explorer it doesnt matter how i minimize, i always get the thumb there. I dont minimize things with the dock image so often, i use the minimize button within the application. How does it work, and what can be done to fix it?

I've always seen the same thing. Any other program I've tried will minimize to a dock thumbnail using the minimize button. Firefox is the only one that doesn't seem to.

The trick mentioned above for clicking the icon in the dock does work to minimize Firefox to an icon, but that's not how I use my computer. I suspect it isn't the way most people use their computers, either.

I just use WindowsFX to minimize to a tile thumb on the desktop.

It's likely something to do with the way Firefox is written (I get it too but it sure doesn't worry me like it seems to do others ).

My guess is that when the minimise button on Firefox is pressed it's code reacts somehow differently to other apps so that OD can't recognise the minimise has occurred in time to get the thumbnail.

It works... so it looks different... live with it.

Nope, it doesn't work, and that's the point. If you use Firefox a lot, and you want to have the thumbnail icons, then this product doesn't do its job for you.
