Whipper Snappers

The young, the old

For the longest time, I thought that I was among peers (in the sense of age) on this site. It has come to my attention, however, that many of the patrons of this site have crested their thirties and beyond. This makes me feel incredibly young, and not in a good way. I see myself now as playing in the sandbox of customization while others build its monuments. For those of you who were not aware, I am 18 years old and preparing to begin my college career. God help me. Are there any prominent skinners on WC of a similar age, or are we young-uns just not skinners yet?

In what seems to be an acute case of dyslexia, I accidentally posted this as a news item first. I personally chalk that up to youth.

Think of it this way: You're not at your peak, facing years of decline. You're doing something that is open-ended in terms of the skills you develop & the pleasure you get from it. Enjoy!

While I'm neither young (physically) nor much of a skinner, I can assure you there are some excellent youngsters playing in this sandbox. If your curious heres a link to the skinnerz gallery Link

Shotgun989...it's nice to see such humility and maturity in someone who's age is frequently associated with knowing it all and voicing self opinion.

Keep playing in the sandbox tho....over time your efforts will become future monuments and you will have earnt the respect and admiration you've shown here for others who may be somewhat older than yourself.

BTW, I am 3 times your age and have no skinning abilities at all, so age is irrelelevant.

There are 20 year olds...and there are 60 year olds....who have both been into skinning since its 'beginning'....

Skinning is universal, embracing and encompassing all ages and gender....possibly aliens as well Talent and desire might help to keep it alive, but the community spirit here is what keeps it vibrant and healthy

http://agneva.wincustomize.com/viewskin.aspx?SID=5406&skinid=3411&libid=1&UID=219381  Check out this skin, and then the rest of his gallery.  He made this skin in honor of his 18th birthday.  I haven't seen him around for a long time and I was really glad to see his WC site here.

And yes, there are other young skinners here (I think Steve Grenier is younger than 18).  We even have a moderator in that age group.

... age is one thing.  Maturity is something else altogether.  Creativity and talent and skill... we all get a shot at that stuff.  It's up to us  how we develop what we have.

I was wondering about Agneva myself. I've still got that and a couple more of his blinds and sysmetrix skins on my backup CDs. So I checked out his website (koushik.com)and it seems he's still very active, he's just moved into the commercial market. I was kinda hoping he'd update a few of his past works.
