DesktopX...Which version

Public/Standard/Pro

Hi Gang,

I am new to the forums here, and didn't see a way to search. I am also fairly new to DesktopX, but have been following Stardock, and even tried the products over the past couple of years. Ok, enough background history.

I am starting to get into widgets, and my 2 main apps I am looking at are Konfabulator, and DesktopX. The question I have about DesktopX are, what is the difference between the DesktopX_public.exe download and DesktopX Standard edition? I couldn't find anything about them, and with the public download, I do have access to the "Create" area.

I would really like to modify a couple widgets and objects, is this possible with what I currently have (DesktopX_public.exe)?

Thanx for you help.

If I got this right:
(short version)

public = client = can use but can not build your own
standard = client & builder = can build your own desktop, objects, widgets
pro = client & builder with the capability of also creating gadgets (which are self running widgets - do not require desktop x to be installed to work)

Thanx, that is exactly what I thought, however, I can load the builder with the version I downloaded (public version). Is this really the standard version?

The troll is correct.
And you also got the corporate version that lets you create secure desktop (locks down the desktop. for use in kiosks and etc.) and includes licences to depoly them on multiple machines.

I guess the question I have, can I create widgets with the version I downloaded? It is my understanding that you can only create widgets and objects with the Standard version. That is what is confusing to me, from what I've seen in the package after installation, the standard version is the one that is available as the public download.

I haven't bought the standard version yet, what does that give me, version what is available for download here:

Public download

thanx.
