Bitmap_128

Hi, I'm looking at some logons like this one: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=4894&LibID=26 that use Bitmap_128. I know in the uifile this part controls it:

element [id=atom(splash)]
{
background: rcbmp(2005,7,#FF00FF,643rp,588rp,0,0);

The only difference I see between the logons that use Bitmap_128, is the height and width parts (643rp, 588rp) - so I tried to put the height and width of MY 128 bmp instead, save the uifile and apply, but when I restarted the PC, I get parser error - that something is wrong in line 40.

Can anyone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong or if there are more settings in the uifile that need to be changed in order for it to work?! would appreciate the help!

p/s- I know Bitmap_128 must be 32bit and mine is.

Tweety; look at the theme.ini for one with the splash, it also needs to be tweaked.

The only thing I see in theme.ini thats related, is this part in [MoreBitmaps] section:
5=Bitmap_128.bmp

which says 128 bmp will be reffered to as 2005 in uifile but dont see anything else really.

If you're talking about this part near the end in the uifile:
----> <***element id=atom(splash) sheet=styleref(splashss) layout=borderlayout() layoutpos=left height=457rp width=403rp>

Than I did change the height and width there too to my 128 bmp size but keep getting this error:
"Parser Message
Value Creation Failed at line 40"

Great timing! I would appreciate any info about Bitmap_128 as well. *cry for help*

that is weird. because that errror message only appears when you define the bitmap as other than 32bit. because if your bitmap is 32bit or is defined in the uifile.txt as such, there is no way that you will get that error. however, since this is how you defined it:
element [id=atom(splash)]
{
background: rcbmp(2005,7,#FF00FF,643rp,588rp,0,0);
it should have worked....

I take it then, there are no more changes to make other than these two splash lines.

These are the bitmap files of the logon I'm having problems with, as well as uifile and theme.ini, maybe it will be easier to see what went wrong. maybe its the size of Bitmap_128 or maybe the dpi matter?!

At least thats one reason to rule out
Its probably something else in the 128 bitmap that causes it, I don't know
Maybe the size of the scrollers dont match?! than again the error did say something wrong in line 40 which is the splash line.

Tweety, I just took the extra info out of theme.ini, 5=Bitmap_128, applied logon and got line 40 error. In the theme.ini needs to be listed so logonstidio knows Bitmap_128 will be 2005 in UIFILE. Download or if you have one by Boss019 take a look at theme.ini. I am not sure if all extra bitmaps are needed or not but they do need to be in theme.ini.

Aren't you talking about this lines in theme.ini:

; The bitmaps will have the number 200+Numb (es bitmap_114 is number 1 and will be referenced as 2001 in UIFILE.txt, bitmap_131 numb 8 will be
2008 etc.)
[MoreBitmaps]
5=Bitmap_128.bmp

it was pasted from the theme.ini file and it does say that in the uifile it will be referred to as 2005

I was basing this logon on 'Tiger' by Boss019 so this line was already in the file

Yes it is
The problem was that it even though it showed it is 32bit, it didnt fully fuctioned as one. you see, I usually use PSP and I created the image but since PSP cant save as 32bit, I then had to open the image in PhotoShop and save as 32bit. still no idea why it does that but I guess its because it was originally created in PSP.

But Shelbygt & Boss019 came up with this nice idea. making Bitmap_128 1x1 image, then simply change the 7 to 6 (stretched) in this line:
background: rcbmp(2005,6,#FF00FF,643rp,588rp,0,0);

I tested it with 4 user accounts and the scrollers are there as it should so I'm happy it worked out I will e-mail it to you to see in a minute

tri1ogy - I assume you contacted Shelbygt by now but if not and you still need help, let me know. I dont know as much as he does but I understand the basics of it now

i downloaded the link and did notice that bitmap_128 is not 32-bit. so there was the problem. anyway, im glad help came. by the way, is it your purpose to add image in the bitmap or is that a cutout of the background? (just curious)

i am waiting for the email....

Good luck and happy skinning!

Sorry, didn't quite get the question. if you're asking if Bitmap_128 was cut from Bitmap_100 than yes, I cut the portion I wanted and then did the box effect on it. the idea was that the user accounts will be inside the box thing in the end.

if you're asking if Bitmap_128 was cut from Bitmap_100

yes that was it...

If it was a solid colour I would have done it differently but I needed to match the background image exactly.

looks like were having a chat....
you can make your bitmap_128 transparent when it is run in Logonstudio you know. just make it 32bit in Photoshop.... and define where the transparency is... i would be willing to fill you up with that.

lol yes we do

There's also another way to have the 1x1 Bitmap_128 and the box around it. simply making the box on the background (bitmap_100) as part of it. and since you have the scrollers working, the user accounts will never exit the box frame/limitation

Bye and have fun

We are glad you are happy with that Tweety - but I really want to help you with more and see that you are more better at making the best logons you can.
Espically that you fully understand that there are a lot of different tricks you can use or lets say doing the code for uifiles.
I've got to say that Sphynx is an excellent code artist also and knows a lot different tricks. His work is very well known as some of the best there is.
And Sphynx there is somethings I'd love to go over with you also on these things with the uifiles and bitmaps used for logons of this sort - if you get the time do contact me...
And I'm working on some other logons for you tweety and for a few others today so Tweety - I'll see you online today.
Thanks and we are always glad to help any artist with what they need to create a good work.

Ofcourse there's always more to learn and I certainly dont know everything there needs to know about the uifile and I will learn as I go, I just meant that for these specific logons I just did, I like how it turned out. I'm sure I can learn a lot from Sphynx as well, there's always something to learn I think.
Will catch you online later on

hi ppol. i'm back. so how's the "CHATROOM" topic goin'?

I've got to say that Sphynx is an excellent code artist also and knows a lot different tricks. His work is very well known as some of the best there is.

WOW. that one is flattering. I'm no code artist. i have made those Logons by learning how to tweak the uifile and learning the basics for alpha channels in Photoshop. pure tutorials from the net is the source of my humble "talent".

And Sphynx there is somethings I'd love to go over with you also on these things with the uifiles and bitmaps used for logons of this sort - if you get the time do contact me...

id be willing to! email me anytime Email
thanks a lot man.

I appreciate it SGTCW & Tweety.

Just got back home, though. Might need some time to unwind and figure out where I left off, LOL. (The uifile being the majority of my questions.)

Glad to hear things are for the better, Tweety.
