Confused about "Virtual Desktop"

SDVD no good?

So I have SD Virtual Desktops. I have it installed and rebooted and done some things. However I'm mystified on some things. I can change the wallpaper and whatnot. However, icons I delete on one, delete on the other desktop. I mean, shouldn't it be like a whole different desktop. How do I have certain icons on the original desktop and have another set of icons on the other or is it not possible? If it's not, that's pretty lame and I don't get this program them. A virtual desktop to me is to create another desktop besides the one you have so you can do more with it. Like what I was saying. Have one set of icons and wallpaper on one, then switch to another full of different icons and a different wallpaper.

A 'Virtual Desktop' proggy is an add-on to the Windows Shell GUI...an  extension, not a new OS in itself.

You are still using the same interface [shell]....all you get is a second copy [or more] of the desktop real-estate on which to leave windows open for easy reference/access.

Alternative shells have had this same feature for ages....and 'some' proggies/functions can be made 'aware' of the different 'desktops' and only show on some and not on others.  Litestep is an example of a shell with such functionality....
