Population value is always too big to be displayed

The Population value (shown in the lower-left corner of the screen) is always too large to be displayed. It shows the beginning of the value, then ends with an ellipse, like:
1728234...
I would suggest that either:
A) the value is bugged, OR
the value is correct, but the text box needs to be bigger, OR
C) the value is correct, but should be shown in either Millions or Billions (like 1728M or 1.72B)
