need guidance

i recently dl'ed skinstudio and have some good ideas {i think} for some skins, logons and boot screens but my problem is i've never had any real computer training so looking at skinstudios i get lost easy. are there any books or VERY BASIC {doing this, makes this happen} tutorials out there for someone like me? i've read the other tutorials that come with the program but still need step by step help until i get a handle on it all. thank you for any and all advice anyone can offer.

You don't need SkinStudio to make logons, or bootskins.

For logons you need LogonStudio https://www.stardock.com/products/logonstudio/
There's a basic tutorial included with the program. (click the Help button)

For bootskins you need the BootSkin program https://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/
There's a link to a tutorial in the Help menu.

Have fun!

thank you Koasati i have both of those and once i get a handle on skinstudio i plan to try those next. question though since you mention those 2 programs, would i use a program like paintshop or photoshop elements to create an image then use the logon or bootscreen programs to turn them into thouse images? my main difficulty right now is getting my head around using skinstudio, figuring out "if i do X, then Y is the result" it is tougher than i imagined.

I think Wizop Koasati was advising you to try a simpler project first.
Although...I failed logon school.

Paint Shop or Photoshop would probably be the best way to start. If you use windows paint your very limited.
I havent even tried to make a skin, but, its fun and good practice to re-skin an existing one. Of course, its only for personal use and you can't upload others work..but, still fun to see the results

Yes, you'll need a decent graphics program regardless of what you plan to skin. SkinStudio, LogonStudio, and BootSkin helps you construct, apply, and package the images you create, but none of them are for actual image creation.

And as Fairyy points out, you're starting with the most diffucult to get a handle on. Bootskins are the simplest skins of the three, followed by logons.
