Is it fair to make too many Bootskins a day?

Is it fair to make too many bootskins a day? If you go to the bootskin gallery you will see at least two users submitting at least more than two skins a day and at least more than three or four skins a page. Is this fair? Well to some people the answer would be yes because they can't make skins so often and some users only look at the first page of the gallery. (Correct me if i'm wrong). And if users make more than two skins a day or have more than three skins a page, the other users skins will be pushed back to the second or third page. And the users who look only at the first page won't see they're skins and those skins aren't going to be downloaded. Please place comments on what you think is fair.

Typically, what I have seen is that a bootskin is nothing more than a rip of someone elses work, converted to fit a Bootskin configuration (ie colors, etc)

If these people are actually creating the images (not simply performing some 'Save-As' from another website), then it would take longer than a day to produce - and should be allowed.

If they are rip of some other artists work - then no - I do not see the benefit.

If the skins are good they will be downloaded. Just because it is on page 1 doesn't mean people will download crap because they are too lazy to click "next page".

Well put Night Train. Quality skins will always stand out of the "mundane" and common junk.
Mass uploads has never meant mass downloads. You could create one quality bootskin and have thousands of downloads guaranteed.

Save as from web or say using image of another person with permission would be about the same, since not create image.

The # 1 downloaded bootskin all time was made with permission using anothers image, # 2 all time uses image from a movie. Both could then be made, due to not having to create image, in 10 to 15 min. But it should take more than a day, why? Most bootskins that are created completely by person uploading them are not done pixel by pixel in graphics software. There are many apps that can be used to create images, of more than enough quality for bootskins, in an hour or two including rendering time. Once you have an image and have done a few to know what you are doing, it takes no more than 15 min. Taking time for say a Wallpaper I can see but you see bootscreen for 5 to 10 sec. when start or reboot computer, which some people don't do for days.
I make bootskins and logons for fun and upload here to share. If you don't think enough work has been put into it don't download. Won't hurt my feelings in the least.

You could create one quality bootskin and have thousands of downloads guaranteed.


10, 100, 1,000, 10,000, they are only numbers it is about sharing.

Even 15 minutes is 'long'.

A bootskin can be done more quickly than that....there's very little in them...

Hey Jafo takes me about that as I paint prog. bar and border in MS Paint after decreasing to 16 color, so I am picking from the 16 color palette, so can't go wrong. Also for me that includes a 4 min reboot to test as applied skin.

This is very true, but as users of this site we do not control what goes in the galleries, that is what the moderators do. As a registered user we can filter the skins by rating we want to see.
