Can't use hidden desktop option?

Wondering why I can't use my hidden desktop icons option or maybe I just haven't figured it out? I usually hide my desktop icons with an active desktop setting but when I do this using the Windows XP silver theme, it doesn't display my "desktop" shortcut so I've had to display my icons on my desktop. Not sure if I'm getting across what I'm trying to say, lolol Hope someone can understand and maybe offer some help? Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if I can help at all.

Normally, you would access the desktop icon via the "Quick Launch" toolbar (right-click taskbar>Toolbars>select Quick Launch.

You can reduce the Quick Launch size by unlocking the taskbar and either dragging end line towards Start button, or by deleting other icons in Quick Launch.

This would allow you to right-click the desktop > Arrange Icons By > deselect "Show Desktop Icons"

I do not use ObjectBar, so I apologize if this was not at all what you were referring to.

Yep, that's how one would do it but it's gone in my ObjectBar or it's not working or I've jacked it up somehow which is the most likely scenario...but it does have to do with the OB. Thanks for the reply though!
