how do I transfer my GC2 beta download to my non-internet connected laptop

Here's the problem
1. I successfully download GC2 beta at work using our high speed connection.
2. I try to move it to my home desktop (dial-up) but I get an error message saying it does not accept the machines ID
3. I try to download another copy to my home desktop via dialup but the GC2 icon does not appear under the games tab despite my having registered my beta account
4. also, I would like to transfer the game to my non-internet connected laptop for when I travel but cannot
How exactly do I move this game between my individual systems (home, work and laptop)

At the moment, there is no way to just move the beta from one machine to another. The problem you encountered with SDC is one that we are trying to fix, so you should be able to download it at home once we have it fixed.  As for the laptop, do you have a built in modem, network card, or fireware port?

Re the laptop, no but I hope when the final game comes out it can be installed from disc or are you folks going to require an activation step ala Steam (yuck).

Unless something changes between now and then,  you will be able to install it from disk without having to activate it on-line ala Steam.

Updates past that initial CD are liable to be a different story.

That said, the activation will generate a code you can email to have it activated on other machines. And once it's activated, so long as you have the sig.bin for that machine (and don't reinstall your OS), you're set.

If you want the game on your home machine, your work machine, the laptop, the tablet pc, and the PC you're "storing" at your cousin's house, nothing's going to say "BOO". When your serial is on a webpage and 25 different email addresses are trying to use it to register that aren't you... they're going to be somewhat disappointed.

Please remember we are users of our own software and the activation was developed in such a manner that we are comfortable with it. Incidents like this week aside where it was available in a game beta on a wider-scale aside, but that's what time and testing are for. All previous activation bits were from their first builds, rather than added later. Missed a whole little assumption about when to check for the activation and redo it seamlessly there.

Your #3 problem above was an issue with the builds on Wednesday, it's sorted now.

Still having the problem whereby I log onto stardock games at work and see the GC2 icon just fine but when I log on with my home machine I do not see the GC2 icon (despite the fact that I am a registered beta user).

Is your install of SDC at home up to date?
